People ignore a lot of empires and kingdoms Africa had.

They ignore the Mali Empire, Oyo Empire, Kingdom of Dahomey, Kingdom of Askum, Ashanti Empire, Kindgom of Zimbabwe, Kanem Empire, and the Ashanti Empire.

They sometimes talk about the Kush Kingdom and Zulu Kingdom, but other than that it's usually Egypt and a glimpse over the other two I mentioned.
