My parents has one
If you've got bombs or missiles coming down on you, I doubt you're going to care if it's an old Cropduster biplane or a supersonic jet fighter, the explosives in those canisters work the same either way.
🙋♂️
Its weird
Just take away the propellers on the old planes and replace them with a jet engine
Most prop planes are used in the drug war in south America
That doesn't really work, the airframes can't take the increased stress.
Make them better
Duh
There usually armed to the teeth
yes, and let them rip themselves apart when they break the sound barrier <:KEK:795742276549607456>
Use the old blueprints but use better materials
ngl tho, most planes are surprisingly durable
Well, if that's the argument, then wouldn't it just be cheaper to manufacture a new plane?
No
Takes too long
Not really.
Assembly line takes less time than tearing apart an old plane and rebuilding it from the ground up.
eh, it depends to what extent your re-engineering them. R&D can cost billions on its own, so upgrading existing planes often works well. That's how we are able to fly our f16s and a10s thirty years in, b/c we upgrade the hell out of them to keep up with the times
It's the same reason why recycling isn't more of a thing here in the US. It's cheaper to dig the new materials out of the ground, takes less man-hours of work to do, and doesn't require any added infrustructure.
Ummm no
I wonder if I could fit a few lewis lmg or water cooled 1919s on my cessna 172 for ww1 larping
Congratulations, you are now using the exact logic of the Biafra Babies.
yes, but if your not recycling the entire plane, rather just improving its computer systems or updating its weaponry, you can save money but utilizing the original jet.
Also we're abit off topic
Yeah, but he talking about prop planes tho.
Several countries still fly proplanes
True.
tourbo-props in particular are very capable, and the U.S was considering replacing the A10 with a turboprop
i gun pew
Oh lol didnt think someone knew of that
Also, if you're replacing the airframe then, yes you are basically tearing the plane completely apart.
It's nerf or something you know the thing
I need one of those
well, if we are looking at something like a wooden biplane, sure, but then you also have to upgrade the engine and modify the wing shape, etc
I need a mg15
Lol
My point was that it depends on the extent to which you want to impove the design
Just build a ultralight
