he's super petty

2021-02-02 19:14:23 UTC

imagine if you are the most powerful being to ever exist and you care what some dumb schmucks on earth say about you

2021-02-02 19:14:29 UTC

then you banish them for eternity

2021-02-02 19:14:39 UTC

😂

2021-02-02 19:15:18 UTC

we have not been banished for eternity, God provided a path to salvation and that's through his finished work on the cross

2021-02-02 19:15:34 UTC

according to you, if i say god isnt real, i go to hell

2021-02-02 19:15:56 UTC

not according to me, according to the bible

2021-02-02 19:17:51 UTC

same thing

2021-02-02 19:17:59 UTC

if i don't believe in god, i go to hell

2021-02-02 19:18:16 UTC

you are agreeing with me i'm not sure what there is to dispute

2021-02-02 19:22:26 UTC

well, yes, but why choose to go to hell if you think you are going there when you die?

2021-02-02 19:23:18 UTC

Yeah, you want to live in a world where God doesn't exist. He will send you to a place where God doesn't exist. Seem to me God is respecting your decision

2021-02-02 19:23:37 UTC

He cares because we are created in his image

2021-02-02 19:24:38 UTC

@Peak Centrism We no longer have the channel description but the rule still applies. Don't come here to dismiss people's beliefs.

2021-02-02 19:26:17 UTC

i agree with the assessment that god may be petty. but if you are here for the sole purpose of ridicule people, it is truly not a productive way to change anybody's mind or learn more about different perspective

2021-02-02 19:49:50 UTC

thats how i see it too, hes no petty, he gives everyone what they want in the end 🤷‍♂️

2021-02-02 20:16:56 UTC

i don't think i'm going there because i don't believe he exists

2021-02-02 20:17:26 UTC

or that hell exists

2021-02-02 20:17:58 UTC

for all you know, you're practicing the wrong religion and that some other religion may be correct and you get punished by their god for not believing in it

2021-02-02 20:25:13 UTC

religious pluralism

2021-02-02 20:25:59 UTC

i just want to know why people believe in god and how they justify their beliefs

2021-02-02 20:26:42 UTC

Then you can ask that, in a decent manner. You were simply attacking folks before.

2021-02-02 21:04:39 UTC

why do you guys believe in god and how do you prove that he exists

2021-02-02 21:05:43 UTC

I believe in God, but no one can directly prove he’s real. A lot of things are like that, you can never fully prove it

2021-02-02 21:06:46 UTC

But for me it makes more sense that there is a God.

2021-02-02 21:07:59 UTC

You can find historical evidence of the events in the Bible. That and Christianity is now a religion based off faith. Just like most religions are

2021-02-02 21:09:09 UTC

Because he told us he does. His word should be enough. asking for proof when he blesses us everyday is like a kick in the balls. it's like if a barista says "that guy paid for your drink" and instead of a thanks you say "prove it. lemme see the receipt"

2021-02-02 21:19:13 UTC

Hey guys! I have not been here in a while.

2021-02-02 22:26:02 UTC

so as an anglican, i see catholics "venerating" saints, but it looks no different to their "adoration". it makes non-catholics think that catholics have completely forgotten about jesus, like he's the scary uncle nobody wants to talk to but everyone acts nice to him at thanksgiving so they can be in the will when he dies.

2021-02-02 22:33:46 UTC

dictionary: "a person acknowledged as holy or virtuous and regarded in Christian faith as being in heaven after death". i cant find any biblical references to criteria for being a saint, but there's a separator in colossians: "To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.", so apparently not all 'faithful brothers (and sisters) in Christ' are saints then, ey..... weird

2021-02-02 22:42:55 UTC

Anyone else think christianity is more of a relationship with God then a religion?

2021-02-02 22:50:06 UTC

Yes

2021-02-02 22:50:16 UTC

thats what it is meant to be according to jesus

2021-02-02 22:50:37 UTC

he talked about god like he was his father... which he was but was also an unheard of position

2021-02-02 22:51:09 UTC

that's why catholics confuse me.... so much of their energy is spent in activities that glorify their church as an establishment, rather than glorifying jesus because of their relationship with him

2021-02-02 22:51:54 UTC

i revere my father, but i don't praise the establishment that facilitates that relationship

2021-02-02 22:52:22 UTC

i mean my human father, my biological father

2021-02-02 22:56:54 UTC

Catholicism is post-messianic Judaism, Judaism was pre-messianic Catholicism. The Church is the living body of Christ that He established on earth. If you want to know why we build our church is so grand, it is because we believe in giving our best to God. But it is also for our own benefit because surrounding your external body with beautiful images of God, it facilitates meditation on Him.

2021-02-02 22:57:37 UTC

looks like idolatry to me 😛

2021-02-02 22:58:18 UTC

It is not without its fault however because it is also made up of sinful humans, but The Holy Spirit guys it anyway.

2021-02-02 22:58:58 UTC

do you think that Catholics worship pictures and statues?
