its bs tho
wait a sec
two houses?
sounds familiar
The house of commons and the House of Lords (UK) Where the Commons have elected by the people. and the Lords are appointed.
The house of commons and the house of Senate (Canada) Where the commons are elected by the people. and the Senate is appointed.
in india also we have, rajya sabha (2nd house) and lok sabha (1st house)
hmm
Are both elected positions?
no, lok one is elected by the people, rajya one is elected by those who were elected by the people, and also, by the president
Lady, the Hon, Rt. Hon, Baroness Margret Thatcher was Appointed to the house of Lords (Our equivalent to the senate) for life.
ok
I thought India had a PM.
Nah the king was in favour of taxing the Americans but yeah the matter came down to Parliament, also the American people originally blamed Parliament for taxation policies, many were proud British citizens and saw the taxes as violating their rights as British citizens
I think the Americas should have been given MP's. But, that is sadly not how history was made.
Or home rule tbh
If all of the BOSC's had MP's they would need to reword the seating and rework their ridings / constituencies
I mean, Home rule worked out for Canada, not much for Ireland.
Then again, they were already Traitors to the Crown.
Problem with Ireland was we didnt abuse them for generations and they werent exactly British people
Ireland, is so chaotic when it comes to politics.
Canadians, Australians and even Americans saw themselves as Anglos and British citizens bound to the homeland
And the Indian people did not want Queen Victoria as their empress
PM is selected by the lok
but he does not hold absolute power
like a king or something
To be fair, the king or queen does not hold that power.
like, just citing an example
The army is in their name, but you know in civil war they would stand with parliment
Oh yeah absolutely, Britain itself was an immensely liberal nation, championed the birth of rights and freedom yet it rarely extended such beliefs directly to the colonies, mainly those which weren't anglo
But yes, He is no Supreme Chancellor
"Treat any locals you find with respect. endeavor by all proper means to cultivate a friendship with them. Making them present of such trinkets as you may have on board, and they may like best. inviting them to traffic (Trade) and showing them every type of civility and regard." - King Georges' orders to captain James Cook.
King George was not Evil, Nether was General George Washington. They were people who were on a different sides in a war.
That can't really stand in the American mythos though
Mythos?
Like a recurring narrative theme
Ah.
Yes, War has lots of propaganda.
The American war of independence was not different.
Many of the American loyalist after the War of Independence fled to Kingston (The "Kings town")
Canada and the royals go back a while, Adolphustown, Alfred, Cumberland, Cornwall, Guelph, East york. (All places named in the honor of a royal family member.
