Took the brake line out of the restraint under the triple tree and unscrewed one of the two line holders. Got enough slack to make it work 👌🏻

Ignore the wirenuts, I'm installing a new accessory light switch and that's the temporary connection to verify it worked properly.

2018-09-26 16:02:58 UTC

@@Sonic I'm a lil more triggered imagining working in the cozy little shack lol. Nice work.

2018-09-26 18:05:03 UTC

Haha thanks

2018-09-27 01:16:40 UTC

@Sonic make sure all of your cables are long enough for you to turn completely both directions.

2018-09-27 01:37:27 UTC

Just took it for a test run. All good. I actually put a little too much play in the clutch cable- will tighten it up a bit tomorrow.

Any motorcycle guys in here? Trying to track down some parts for an old Honda CB125

2018-10-01 03:50:18 UTC

I just scrolled up and saw @Sonic Pic...lol

2018-10-01 03:51:12 UTC

Anyway, I'm having a hell of a time tracking down a gas tank that the fork doesn't bang into, and also fits against the front cushions and bolts properly. Help would be appreciated.

2018-10-01 03:53:02 UTC

Have a tank rigged up, but sizing is not correct, was taken from a different year, same model.

2018-10-01 04:56:50 UTC

@Freiheit - CA you might be able to search online and find which tanks from certain years are a factory match with yours. I've found the craziest specific details on motorcycle forums. Also see if you have a motorcycle junk yard near by that lets you pick your parts, we have a couple of them out here- very useful.

2018-10-01 04:59:12 UTC

Yeah, I've searched the part number and I wasn't able to cross reference it to any other models. There are some nice alternatives but even with correct length, I don't have the clearance at the fork I'm looking for. Could also order one without the cushion mounts welded on, but that's an other pain of measuring &c...The junk yard may be my best bet. I'll check some more forums too. Thanks @Sonic

Keep us updated on your progress man

2018-10-01 05:00:09 UTC

Sounds good.

2018-10-01 05:00:13 UTC

Will do.

2018-10-01 05:01:13 UTC

What year is it?

2018-10-01 05:01:22 UTC

'84

2018-10-01 05:02:13 UTC

Ok. When I get some spare time I'll see if I can find any info for you.

2018-10-01 05:02:23 UTC

I appreciate it.

2018-10-01 05:10:29 UTC

@Freiheit - CA There are a few on eBay for $75-$200. Brand new and used ones for 1984 CB125S. Do you have aftermarket forks or just want more clearance than you've got from the factory?

2018-10-01 05:11:39 UTC

It's an aftermarket tank...someone put an '85 tank on it and it's too short.

2018-10-01 05:11:59 UTC

The front cushion stops are too far back.

2018-10-01 05:14:54 UTC

The annoying thing is that a lot of these old bikes are still in production in Asia, but some specs are slightly off.

2018-10-01 05:17:52 UTC

The CG is close, but I need a length of 58cm from bolt hole center to pad mounts...I may just get one, ~$80 isn't too bad for a rust free tank...if it doesn't work I can find a buyer.

2018-10-01 05:18:08 UTC

I'd assume they're pretty popular right now as a lot of people are modding out older bikes into cafe style.

2018-10-01 05:18:40 UTC

Yeah, I want to make one, but at the moment I'm just rebuilding this for a commuter, it was parked for a decade and now I'll be riding it to work.

2018-10-01 05:18:48 UTC

Cafe bikes are cool lookin

2018-10-01 05:20:43 UTC

I might Cafe a 175 in the near future, or just buy one that has already been modded. I eventually need something freeway legal in Commiefornia, and 175 has almost the same mileage. Want to take longer trips.

2018-10-01 05:21:52 UTC

I've been burned on part dimensions before like seat lengths &c.

2018-10-01 05:22:05 UTC

Nice- that'll be a fun project for sure! I've been looking for some other i.e. guys who ride

2018-10-01 05:22:23 UTC

There's a bunch, I'm just getting into it TBH

2018-10-01 05:24:05 UTC

I've ridden for years, but just got a different bike recently. I'm tall, so I've always gotta mod them out a bit to fit me lol

2018-10-01 05:24:44 UTC

Makes sense.

2018-10-01 05:24:52 UTC

They don't quite make them in difference sizes.

2018-10-01 05:25:20 UTC

My first bike was a 78 (I think) cb250

2018-10-01 05:25:28 UTC

Nice.

2018-10-01 05:25:38 UTC

The CBs are cool.

2018-10-01 05:26:00 UTC

Yeah they've got a nice style. And reliable as hell

2018-10-01 05:26:14 UTC

Plus easy to work on too
