Or letting gravity take over

2018-10-19 23:21:44 UTC

i think gravity may be the problem

2018-10-19 23:22:20 UTC

Then do some incline push-ups for now

2018-10-19 23:22:28 UTC

35 push-ups in a minute is what you should be able to do before looking at the bench

2018-10-19 23:22:45 UTC

alrighty then

2018-10-19 23:23:43 UTC

Main thing is to get a routine going whatever you're doing

2018-10-19 23:23:54 UTC

Bench : strength
Push-ups : endurance

2018-10-19 23:24:36 UTC

And do u mean 35 push-ups within a minute without stopping

2018-10-19 23:24:41 UTC

Like no rest?

2018-10-19 23:25:58 UTC

No you can rest by pushing your pelvis up

2018-10-19 23:26:35 UTC

You're right ofc but if you're starting with 5x5 w/ bench you do need some endurance

2018-10-19 23:26:45 UTC

Not a whole pile but some

2018-10-19 23:27:42 UTC

35 in a min w/ rest isn't an unattainable goal for someone starting out

2018-10-19 23:28:06 UTC

That plus some core work just helps them loosen out the muscles before hitting the bar and gain some confidence

2018-10-19 23:28:50 UTC

Would recommend investing in a pull up bar at home too

2018-10-19 23:29:11 UTC

Before even getting any dumbbells

2018-10-19 23:29:34 UTC

I started doing 30 mins of cardio, 100 situps, planks for 5 min 45 second holds, 15 second breaks, about a 50 min workout. add any number of pushups on top and thats a good starting routine, key to doing endurance/strength is having an already elevated heart rate

2018-10-19 23:30:02 UTC

I never hit the gym and 35 press ups in 1 minute without a break is ez

2018-10-19 23:30:20 UTC

Yeah so you have no excuse not to be in the gym

2018-10-19 23:30:35 UTC

Laziness

2018-10-19 23:30:51 UTC

It's not supposed to be a high bar it's a bar of minimal entry really

2018-10-19 23:31:18 UTC

If you can't do that you won't progress on bench

2018-10-19 23:32:45 UTC

It doesn't take much to start off with just the bar doing 5x5, even if you spend a week or two just practising form with the bar

2018-10-19 23:32:56 UTC

>never hit the gym and 35 push-ups without rest is easy

2018-10-19 23:33:12 UTC

Literally just did it to check

2018-10-19 23:33:20 UTC

I'm not some fat fuck

2018-10-19 23:33:33 UTC

"Never hit the gym"

2018-10-19 23:33:54 UTC

I play a shit ton of basketball so im okay on stamina

2018-10-19 23:34:50 UTC

The bar for upper body strength grade 1 fitness in the Irish army is 55 in a minute, 35 is a grade 2 anything below is a fail, that's why I pick that stat btw, it's a fairly solid marker of being a lazy sod that you can't do it, but you don't have to be jacked to get it done

2018-10-19 23:37:15 UTC

For the record I recommend doing both calisthenics and weight training, but too many use having an "athletic build" as an excuse not to hit the gym

2018-10-19 23:40:31 UTC

Alright

2018-10-19 23:41:24 UTC

Is it feasible to only lift once or twice a week and still make gainz?

2018-10-19 23:41:58 UTC

Yes

2018-10-19 23:42:07 UTC

At the start

2018-10-19 23:42:20 UTC

Lifting everyday is preferable

2018-10-19 23:42:49 UTC

U should be doing every muscle group at LEAST once a week

2018-10-19 23:42:50 UTC

All the lifting guides online are every day but i really can not manage that shit

2018-10-19 23:43:47 UTC

Cause i have school and extracurricular stuff almost every day

2018-10-19 23:44:41 UTC

What's the beginners guide then

2018-10-19 23:45:02 UTC

Lift everyday like a fucking psychopath
