'We found the most autistic of us all to lead us'
But their cost is the largest question mark

John why are you awake
Just calculating how much it would cost to drive my own locomotive :D
I hope you guys pre-ordered Death Stranding © ® A Hideo Kojima game ™
(Not really but lets play like it was true)
Why would I wanna pay videogame prices for a movie

You just don't get the genius of Kojmbo
Like electric trains for a nationalised freight service or passanger?
Classic kojima. Runs a company literally into the ground and his fans still love him
I think the most expensive part of that would be in infrastructure if youre going by a tram model
Or like a fueling hub where trains are quick charged
It costs 1400 per 100km if the train weights 100 tons
<:kizunaNo:392899963295891456>
Current tr1 1980 ones weight 80 so its tad cheaper
(Assuming all electric usage and no other costs)
if the info isn't out there you can absolutely request that information
Building infrastructure is stupidly expensive

How much are parts, engineers, maintaince, random regulations
Also optimal layout. Who owns that land you wanna change? And what if they don't sell

Fair. So an electric freight train?
If we assume 60ish ton 120 person csrt there
Its about 2100e per 100km with large extra margins ofc
(Locomotive and cart combined)
That cost includes electricity and rail usage etc
And tax :D
Direct fra link 404 sadly
Damn, google Cost benefit analysis if next generation electric frieght train
Fra
Pretty recent ish, released 2015
Theres a lot more case studies on the death of it post 70s more than anything
Yeah im just doing some light groundwork here for local railways nice to compare it to something at least
Basecost for electric trainss here is 0.1355e per <total weight(tons)*distance(km)>
>>> the basic infrastructure charge shall include minimum infrastructure access services, which shall be:
(a) processing of requests for railway infrastructure capacity;
(b) the right to use the allocated capacity;
(c) use of railway infrastructure, including network junctions and switches;
(d) train control, including signaling, traffic control, transmission and communication as well as train movement information;
(e) use of electricity transmission equipment to provide transport flow;
(f) all other information required for the operation of the service for which capacity has been granted.
