Thank you, @Jabba! Very cool!

@Nordhand Also people tend to forget the Catholic Church still owns and operates out of it. It was still having sunday mass, and was the seat of the French Archbishop. So....Prolly not.

2019-04-20 08:15:15 UTC

Did see that one of the last persons to leave Notre dame under the fire was a priest that was holding a sermon that day.

2019-04-20 15:21:56 UTC

@Goblin_Slayer_Floki if I remember recently, the French government owns the building, but the Archdiocese has a perpetual lease to run and maintain the site.

2019-04-20 15:32:20 UTC

During the French revolution, the cathedral became a property of the people. After the French Revolution Napoleon put the Cathedral under the control of the state for his coronation, thus becoming the state´s property

2019-04-20 15:32:37 UTC

and it has remained effectively so since then

2019-04-20 17:06:07 UTC

Nigger (dog)

2019-04-20 17:07:51 UTC

Come here little nigga i have a treat for you

2019-04-20 17:08:08 UTC

Good doggo. Who is a good boi

2019-04-20 17:08:17 UTC

Get in those cotton fields boi

2019-04-20 17:08:34 UTC

Haha

2019-04-20 17:08:39 UTC

Americans have a weird tendency of giving bad names

2019-04-20 21:57:03 UTC

Nothing wrong with the glass dome tho

2019-04-20 21:58:18 UTC

And the glass pyramid is ok

2019-04-20 21:58:43 UTC

did hear on the radio, that most people in Paris did not want some new age crap stuck on top of their precious cathedral but wanted it to be restored to it old self

2019-04-20 22:00:13 UTC

Parisians hated the Eiffel Tower when it was built

2019-04-20 22:00:23 UTC

Now it's their most prized symbol

2019-04-20 22:01:07 UTC

But I agree the cathedral's pre fire design should be respected

2019-04-20 22:01:08 UTC

to be fair the Eiffel Tower was basically just a mega radio antenna.

2019-04-20 22:01:13 UTC

It wasn't even meant to be permanent.

2019-04-20 22:01:32 UTC

But yeah, the govt is holding a contest for the redesign either way.

2019-04-20 22:02:40 UTC

Not a redesign contest but to choose the architect

2019-04-20 22:02:52 UTC

Whether they choose to redesign is up to them

2019-04-20 22:03:17 UTC

Architect contests are always done for such matters, it's not a new thing

2019-04-20 22:04:10 UTC

it still going to ruin the look of the historical building. some things you cant improve on

2019-04-20 22:04:44 UTC

Might be misremembering the title.

2019-04-20 22:05:36 UTC

But yeah, as long as it comes close enough to the pre-damaged piece. It's better than have it be replaced with other garbage.

2019-04-21 06:25:07 UTC

Ignoring all the non-"alt-right" people who would also hate a modern roof.

2019-04-21 07:17:43 UTC

We know how to build french gothic shit, why not just rebuild the spire as it was ? Am I missing something here ? Is it because I am an old fart ?

2019-04-21 07:24:46 UTC

@Skyeranger they want to piss off the people who like culture

2019-04-21 07:29:17 UTC

Why not do it like ISIS, just blow up some monuments, museums and burn some artworks. that will for sure piss off the Alt-Right and people who like culture ...

2019-04-21 08:15:49 UTC

You should preserve history as it was not modernize it. @Capitán Alatriste Even if the glass shit looked super nice, which it doesn't imo, it's still a bad idea to fuck up history.

2019-04-21 08:16:25 UTC

Has to be rebuilt exactly as it was before.

2019-04-21 08:59:36 UTC

I really hate people with nor respect for their own culture and history. "Rebuilding it more beautiful as it was before ..." It was fucking beautiful as it was and should be restored to what it was before the fire.
