Sort of, in a weird way.
It'd be better if they were just road crews, tbh
`A wide variety of companies such as Whole Foods, McDonald's, Target, IBM, Texas Instruments, Boeing, Nordstrom, Intel, Wal-Mart, Victoria's Secret, Aramark, AT&T, BP, Starbucks, Microsoft, Nike, Honda, Macy's and Sprint and many more actively participated in prison in-sourcing throughout the 1990s and 2000s.`
ahahahaha
yeah nobody would have slaves guys
except all these companies doing it already
You mean companies are going to take advantage of govt provided labor at a reduced rate?
No shit
Ah yes you have demonstrated that governments, who do not have to earn their money, can afford to keep slaves.......
no no
And are not accountable to outside agencies as well
you come to me when microsoft is refused banking and insurance bc they used american slave labor
which was the claim
See? This is why I don't think you're taking this seriously.
Go meme elsewhere
where is the social disapproval forcing these companies out of business for using slaves tho
Good point.
Go start one
No my claim is that slavery is economically unfeasible. Unless you contend that these prisons pay their upkeep and turn a profit off of the labor they sell. Which they do not. Even your dreaded private prison make their money from the governments that pay them taxpayer money and are not economically viable due to selling prisoner labor.
could be a valid point, but private prisons also have to conform to government standards which would increase their expenses
won't know how viable actual slavefarms are until we try it on the open market :^)
@Jym Quit feeding the troll.
His only goal is to 'win', not have a productive conversation
This is not difficult math. Prisoners you have to feed clothe and house on top of the overhead of guards and other infrastructure. On top of this they still pay the prisoners something. Alternately you pay people enough to buy food clothing shelter and some other nice things without all that overhead.
@Fitzydog Likely but there is a more important point to be made. We have this mythology that slavery is somehow a great benefit to thee slave owner. When in fact it is the worst possible way to organize labor and that is why it only occurs in undeveloped economies.
Yes, there's a reason why the North beat the South.
They were miles ahead of them in economic development
<:Commie_ball:466404411535785995>
The south in fact had to pass new laws to make slavery viable.
Like forcing all the NON slave owners (like 90% of the male population) go and hunt down the runaways
So even in the south which has less industrial development slavery only maintained itself through indirect government subsidies.
White people in London, is kinda strange tbh π€·πΏ
you mean like in france where the majority of the yellow vests are white frenchies?
token π
