Solved.
it's marketing tech being used to feed a user's interests, which creates echo-chambers... they would have to disable recommended videos/posts to make any difference
I don't think filtering is the problem. The problem is that the user does not choose their filters. There are not enough hours in the day to consume every viewpoint. You simply have to impose a certain level of information hygiene to get through the day.
@Jas Use a different platform.
But the real question you're asking is, should social media platforms be manipulating their users unknowingly in the interest of marketing?
Key word there is >unknowingly
You should watch the Joe Rogan episode with the creator of Minds.com. Very informative
good idea
You can tell the guy is secretly a shitposter, but has to tone it down for Joe lol
that seems like some <:fake_news:430430057060630529>
Just ban all social media.
It's a blight. It's a mistake. It's a curse.
Its Sweden, king of the cucks
Don't forget the same shithole had "feminist snow removal"
that did not work out so well for them. let try reinvent the wheel by throwing away what we have learned of snow removal since we did invent cars and roads
Wheels? Look at this ableist bigot! Africa still hasn't invented the wheel so it must not be used as to not offend them!
good that as the snow removal is fucked up you cant use wheels so this is the only mode of transport that works in the winter snow
Whats this? Youre culturally appropriating the eskimos! REEEE!!!
Look at this racist, trying to steal achievement!
REEEE!!

Peta somehow backtracking into the pro-life side of the abortion argument
I don't. Eggs are like hen abortion. You're eating abortion what could be more feminist than that?
I'm listening to the podcast you linked. I've always been for open source, but I really love when he compares it with having to declare what's in your food
Eggs are a hen ovulation
@Jas Makes sense, huh? There's still the concern of having that be a regulation however.
But a new and upcoming platform could advertise itself as being 100% transparent as opposed to the giants
so is minds primarily meant for political stuff?
I've been considering creating it, but the only thing I use my twitter for is posting DIY videos and doge memes
Minds is a general social media. Sort of an anon FB except without curation.
ok so I might be boomer af here, but how do I actually follow someone on here? I signed up and found someone I want to follow, but there's no follow button anywhere
Eh not really. I mean I was only semi-anon on FB. I used a burner E-mail an fake name but my real picture so IRL friends would recognize me.

Click on their page and there will be a Subscribe button on the left hand side.
Yeah, it's not exactly intuitive at the moment
It HAS gotten better though.
Webdesign via a blockchain must be pretty hard
Just read a book about this problem it's called an inadequate equilibrium. A system like social media can fall into an equilibrium even if it is not an ideal system. Like Twitter or FB. So even a preferable system cannot compete because the equilibria point has already been fulfilled by an inadequate one.
*That says a lot about our society*
