2019-05-21 21:32:32 UTC

is it something with obama care?

2019-05-21 21:32:46 UTC

cuz i've no idea what that was/how it worked

2019-05-21 21:33:06 UTC

@Fitzydog enlighten the sandnigger about obamacare

2019-05-21 21:33:23 UTC

all I know is that it was heavily critiqued

2019-05-21 21:34:46 UTC

@MountainMan Basically, it made it LAW to buy insurance from insurance companies, and insurance companies could not deny service.

So because insurance companies couldn't discriminate based on health, they increased prices for everyone to compensate

2019-05-21 21:35:36 UTC

thanks for the explanation mate

2019-05-21 21:38:43 UTC

Im not saying that systems here are perfect, but if its mandatory it needs to be appropriately prized, either through subvention or the state running its own insurance "company"

2019-05-21 21:39:45 UTC

US insurance companies seem like utter BS anyway

2019-05-21 21:41:05 UTC

@woll3 If they ran their own company, it would be twice as expensive and half the quality

2019-05-21 21:41:29 UTC

not even if its run on state level?

2019-05-21 21:41:32 UTC

The market WANTS to sell poor health people insurance.

But there's too many regulations to make it cost worthy

2019-05-21 21:41:39 UTC

@woll3 they already are

2019-05-21 21:41:43 UTC

I'll expand

2019-05-21 21:42:55 UTC

Most states have such stringent requirements for the selling of health insurance, that you're basically paying a small difference in cost for the logo on the envelope you get in the mail each month.

There's practically no competition in the market due to state rules from up above

2019-05-21 21:43:52 UTC

Hell in my state, you are LITERALLY paying for the exact same product from different companies because that's all the insurance companies are, are resellers of the states product

2019-05-21 21:45:04 UTC

Anyone who tells you that health insurance could be cheaper from the state, has no idea how insurance or health regulations work

2019-05-21 21:45:43 UTC

so essentially its their own rules outsourced and the problem lies at the top

2019-05-21 21:45:50 UTC

Yes

2019-05-21 21:46:25 UTC

There's a different form of product however that works better than all of this, but no one likes to talk about

2019-05-21 21:46:39 UTC

'Health sharing' its called

2019-05-21 21:46:50 UTC

It's how an insurance company is supposed to work

2019-05-21 21:47:32 UTC

But they can drop you if you aren't abiding by the health rules, or they can require you to be a part of an organization like a church
