So David Starkey was correct - DeCosta fucked the government with poor advice

2019-09-24 09:48:47 UTC

Basically, they saying prorogue had to be less than a week long to be lawful

2019-09-24 09:56:41 UTC

So Boris will need to prorogue again to enable Queen's speech because they ruled prorogue null and void.

They did not want a GE when offered one

They said they wanted one yesterday

2019-09-24 10:21:54 UTC

We are now living under the rule of lawyers - not the same as the rule of law... the best justice money can buy.

2019-09-24 10:23:21 UTC

Now Bercow will keep handing control of proceedings to opposition to enable reverse of Brexit.

2019-09-24 10:26:18 UTC

Did we just get rekt by activist judges?

2019-09-24 10:30:19 UTC

@Astral_Andy Yes and no... Boris's legal advisor, DeCosta, fucked us all - the Supreme Court are technically correct.
David Starkey criticised position advised by DeCosta and sure enough, the courts have now taken a position of supremacy because they were forced to make a ruling.

2019-09-24 10:31:27 UTC

It's doesn't change Brexit, just the decision to prorogue Parliament, but it now opens the doors for lots of procedural issues to be taken to court for judges to rule on.

2019-09-24 10:32:18 UTC

and if there's one thing rich remoaners like is a good court case.

2019-09-24 10:36:29 UTC

it's not the right time to be a dick, farage

2019-09-24 10:37:42 UTC

Cummings seems to be the one blocking Tory deal with Brexit Party

2019-09-24 10:38:12 UTC

The major concern for me is if Boros can survive a vote of no confidence, which seems likely to happen now.

2019-09-24 10:38:41 UTC

if he doesn't there will be a GE

2019-09-24 10:38:51 UTC

which he will win comfortably

2019-09-24 10:39:08 UTC

(provided it is before Oct31 or after and Brexit has been delivered)

2019-09-24 10:39:29 UTC

Will he? The Tories have said they won't ally with the Brexit Party, so it could be a disaster if Labour and the Lib Dems co-ordinate.

2019-09-24 10:39:30 UTC

he's wanted one all along

2019-09-24 10:39:47 UTC

Nige promised not to stand in certain seats

2019-09-24 10:40:00 UTC

Hmm

2019-09-24 10:40:17 UTC

I don't know; this all seems to be hanging on a knife-edge.

2019-09-24 10:40:37 UTC

yeah there are a ton of massive "IF"s

2019-09-24 10:41:24 UTC

You see, opposition don't need an election - they just need to keep Boris powerless, keep taking control of the order paper and revoke Brexit at their leisure...
...dangerous, but they are now free to do that if they wish.
