Pine tree flag?!?
@Fitzydog what are you talking about?
An appeal to heaven
American militias, man.
Ya
But what do you mean, I dont know?
The pine tree had long been a New England symbol being depicted on the Flag of New England flown by colonial merchant ships dating back to 1686.
Americans had rifles, made by PRUSSIAN craftsmen, while the brits had muskets. @Duke of Mecklenburg
IE, symbolic of NE minutemen's cause
Rifles had lower rates of fire...But obviously better accuracy
Also rifles were more expensive
Same rate of fire
And british light infantry had rifles
Just not the main line infantry
It's not the same
Light infantry did not have rifles..
They had buck and ball muskets
A ball drops straight down with a musket, while with rifles its tight
So ramming the round takes a bit longer
It's tight in both tard
Alot tighter with the rifle
I own a muzzleloader
A rifleman can load and fire 3 shots a minute
Same
Learn your shit
The Prussians could 4<:pepe_smug:560207654207750154>
You've probably never shot a flintlock
Brown bess muskets were 3 RPM
IF you were a highly experienced rifleman
Rifling has existed since the 1500s btw
But did the british infantry adopt it? 🤔
I'm a muzzloading range instructor and pre 1840s living history reenactor. @Duke of Mecklenburg
In the 1770s at least

Muh person who isnt talking out his poop slot
The minie ball was what made rifling worthwhile
And was when rifled muzzleloaders became common infantry guns, and not just for skirmishers/light infantry
I've always found it easier loading in a smooth bore vs. Rifled muzzleloaders...btw
Also rifling was expensive until machining got good enough
The reason the brits did not have rifles, is because they were more difficult to manufacture in bulk, and had to be issued uniformly.
Americans prided their guns like they do trucks these days. They were a status symbol that were heavily invested in and custom made to order
In the early mid 1800s
