Yeah and then others will want a platform with less rules/censorship, and more *modern* advertisers

2018-04-09 06:26:19 UTC

I really think its a good idea to make creators pay for their files hosted

2018-04-09 06:28:26 UTC

Minds.com has some interesting business model variance vs. twitter

2018-04-09 06:28:49 UTC

I dont think the model we are talking about will ever overthrow youtube though, unless youtube just goes under on it's own. It can be an alternative for controversial creators, but it probably wont have normies using it, which may not be a bad thing.

Whats your killer app

2018-04-09 06:29:19 UTC

you need something like South Park basically

2018-04-09 06:30:06 UTC

something nobody can get anywhere else. you may have to sign an exclusivity deal with some talented creators

2018-04-09 06:30:34 UTC

unfortunately I don't know anything about computers, otherwise I would probably be working on something.

2018-04-09 06:31:36 UTC

well do you know economics, or have a lot of investment capital, or know a lot of geeks and a couple richkids?

2018-04-09 06:32:45 UTC

If I had an idea worth while I'm sure I can find a way to pull it off, but the trick is to not get it ripped off.

2018-04-09 06:33:00 UTC

part of the process really is, to troubleshoot every single problem that will arise one by one

2018-04-09 06:33:15 UTC

yeah, I like doing that

2018-04-09 06:34:40 UTC

dont worry about people stealing ideas if you cant implement them. anyone can think of the same ideas, few can implement. indeed within the first year people would copy you, much bigger companies maybe

2018-04-09 06:35:09 UTC

the best thing would be for them to be seen as clones of the original, if the original survives amongst them

2018-04-09 06:36:06 UTC

One of the trickiest things is convincing people to use it once you've built it, you would need to get a bunch of big people to want to use it. and it has to be "cool" otherwise people are just gonna say "fuck that it sucks"

2018-04-09 06:36:30 UTC

theres a lot of ways you can take care of creators with good GUI

2018-04-09 06:36:58 UTC

if you can convince them theyll make more money off you than YT, theres something

2018-04-09 06:37:12 UTC

get whats that bi†ch to plug it

2018-04-09 06:37:32 UTC

Kylie Jenner

2018-04-09 06:37:40 UTC

lol

2018-04-09 06:37:50 UTC

get her to say her dad likes looking at balls on it

2018-04-09 06:38:37 UTC

his own balls in a glass case with a livestream at an undisclosed location

2018-04-09 06:39:24 UTC

if you wanna work the 'no censorship' angle, that really means locking down Sargon, MILO, maybe Jordan P for good measure

2018-04-09 06:39:47 UTC

for sure

2018-04-09 06:40:01 UTC

They cant exactly leave their platform right this sec tho

2018-04-09 06:40:33 UTC

maybe if YT gets worse 😃

2018-04-09 06:41:12 UTC

and try to round it out with some people who arent constantly 'accused of being right-wing'

2018-04-09 06:41:46 UTC

plus they already have patreons so there is that to work around. they would have to adjust their models a bit.

2018-04-09 06:41:53 UTC

who has been the most screwed over by youtube?

2018-04-09 06:42:09 UTC

let me think

2018-04-09 06:42:30 UTC

yes but thats actually good because they have a platform to get money and they can provide content to their subscribers on any platform they like

2018-04-09 06:42:46 UTC

it makes them less platform-dependent

2018-04-09 06:42:58 UTC

that has something to do with what Floatplane does

2018-04-09 06:44:55 UTC

yeah but the thing is, how would the patreon donors feel about it. I dont know, I'm not thinking straight atm, I cant really articulate what I'm trying to say.

2018-04-09 06:45:23 UTC

if you wanted to start *stupid* tiny, contract a creator to make you one exclusive video, get the web ui all coded up, and host it. make sure theyre popular and you can get them to plug it on their YT vids. and just make sure theyre super popular. the idea is a bit of a stretch, but so is anything

2018-04-09 06:46:12 UTC

oh idk. are patreon users devoted to youtube?

2018-04-09 06:46:52 UTC

make lots of lists of problems

2018-04-09 06:47:26 UTC

No that's not what i'm saying, just that if the creator goes to a paid subscription model would the patreons stick around? and would they need to pay for the subscription on top of patreon? that sort of thing

2018-04-09 06:48:30 UTC

Also the creator would need to have some form of exclusivity to the new site.

2018-04-09 06:49:08 UTC

If they stay with youtube also, they would need to have a decent upload delay to get people to spring for the subscription

2018-04-09 06:49:22 UTC

yeah thats a lot to work on. you really want the ad revenue so consumers dont have to pay
