I was actually the other way araound for me, I started with Ubuntu, then I a made a tour of distros and then I stuck with Fedora/Red Hat.

I left because of Unity.

Fedora/Red Hat are pretty solid in general - I can't stand CentOS though

It is a playground distro for Red Hat, but it still works fine for me.
