I think good works should be encouraged but when Jesus died on the cross, that's what saved us

Catholics do not deny the necessity of belief in Jesus for salvation.

Or really what role works play in salvation.

The fundamental disagreement is that you believe that those who are elect are elect from the moment of regeneration to salvation.

A Catholic holds that those who are elect can lose their salvation by mortal sin

I would quote Ephesians 2:8,9, I think that the only way you could lose salvation is turning away from God
