Shotokan is (relatively) nothing like Kyokushin is nothing like Goju Kai

2018-07-24 17:41:33 UTC

But they all fall under the umbrella of 'karate'

2018-07-24 17:41:45 UTC

And then half the people watching it fucking go 'is that Taekwondo?' anyway

2018-07-24 17:42:25 UTC

I know most people don't do it to troll practicioners

2018-07-24 17:42:31 UTC

but it is funny

2018-07-24 17:42:41 UTC
2018-07-24 17:42:54 UTC

I know nothing about a subject, and make a "master" go nuts

2018-07-24 17:43:24 UTC

Can anyone answer my question

2018-07-24 17:43:25 UTC

Thanks

2018-07-24 17:43:33 UTC

no

2018-07-24 17:43:36 UTC

just admit it

2018-07-24 17:43:54 UTC

why counter the argument when you can have a bit of fun?

2018-07-24 17:44:11 UTC

I know you have a lot of Krav Maga for self defence guys in the US. But I don't really think that's what it's about

2018-07-24 17:44:42 UTC

It's not

2018-07-24 17:44:50 UTC

And like American dad said, for self defence a gun is better. If this is what you're actually worried about

2018-07-24 17:45:00 UTC

There was a documentary series going about 10 years ago

2018-07-24 17:45:04 UTC

it's a weapon

2018-07-24 17:45:24 UTC

being prepared to kill with your hands

2018-07-24 17:45:27 UTC

and being able to

2018-07-24 17:50:58 UTC

Hey gays

2018-07-24 17:51:03 UTC

New trap

2018-07-24 17:51:31 UTC

Guess who

2018-07-24 17:52:03 UTC

Yeah I'm pretty sure Tai Chi and all those "ancient arts" are complete BS

2018-07-24 17:52:16 UTC

That's not how people fight

2018-07-24 17:52:22 UTC

Nah, I don't think so

2018-07-24 17:52:54 UTC

I think what we see in the mainstream, is a filtered, neutral version of the real thing that just looks cool and keeps people fit

2018-07-24 17:53:09 UTC

The guy took down a "Tai Chi master" is 12 seconds

2018-07-24 17:53:19 UTC

And that's not very surprising to be honest

2018-07-24 17:53:37 UTC

Yeah, and you can get a master certificate from any studio

2018-07-24 17:54:01 UTC

Even i could go be a Karate "master"

2018-07-24 17:54:17 UTC

Doesn't mean it's the real thing

2018-07-24 17:54:29 UTC

I'm still pretty sure Tai Chi can't teach you how to fight though. Karate can definitely teach you how to fight

2018-07-24 17:54:48 UTC

I don't know, I suppose

2018-07-24 17:55:03 UTC

Also yeah, no idea who this is

2018-07-24 17:55:26 UTC

I want to see the real thing. I doubt tai chi is just dancing, if it was historically used in the battlefields

2018-07-24 17:55:30 UTC

*most* TMAs *can* at least give you a good base of fundamentals (at least in striking, and assuming you don't join a super-dodgy club)

2018-07-24 17:56:06 UTC

especially nowadays that they have to compete with more legit martial arts styles, now that the veil of Eastern mysticism has been torn down
