The argument that spawned the idea of absolute truth being something unfathomable was a debate I had with a colleague at one point about objectivity, and using the examples of the Earth being flat being 'scientific standard' at one point in time, but now it's scientifically considered a oblate spheroid.
Means of observation change, which means fundamental understandings of truth change, and are never subject to being finalized as long as there is something unexplained.
