Similar to the UK I guess. We pay national insurance into the NHS which is technically separate from taxes but I just lump it all into the same thing. I get free prescriptions as standard in Scotland though because I guess we're also socialist too.

Well, his first demand was to define what a Socialist country is... So I gave him the usual definition, which he totally ignored and then started going on about this was 'new socialism' etc. Then I went into the finer points of why certain things are a bad idea. Personally I'm more than happy to pay NI monthly for the safety net of the NHS but I'd be lying to myself if I said it wasn't due to collapse any time soon.
