Historically speaking, from an academic standpoint, 9/11 meant an opportunity for neocons/libs to use a tragic event for a power grab and subversion of the US constitution.

I saw it on TV in the UK. Walked into the lounge when it was on and thought it was an action movie at first XP

I'd say that rather than people becoming more desensitised that the opposite is happening. People are becoming more sensitive. Too sensitive.
