Really, I'm very skeptical about our ability to reduce CO2 emissions. If you look at gdp/person to CO2/person charts, you'll see that even if we do our best, it's largely a choice between leaving a lot of people in poverty and producing CO2

2019-03-25 17:44:54 UTC

So the big question is, what is our goal? For the largest amount of people to suffer as little as possible, or "preserve nature".

2019-03-25 17:45:17 UTC

USA is a heavy polluter in comparison to other Western countries

2019-03-25 17:46:10 UTC

It's quite possible that it would be way cheaper to deal with the effects than to prevent it from happening.

2019-03-25 17:46:41 UTC

Of course, many enviromentalists don't give a shit, because they don't actually care about people

2019-03-25 17:46:56 UTC

the planet will be fine, its just our living conditions that are the concern.

2019-03-25 17:47:40 UTC

I know, but thats whataboutism

2019-03-25 17:48:03 UTC

I have no influence on Chinas politics

2019-03-25 17:48:05 UTC

give it a few billion years without humans and who knows whats up next

2019-03-25 17:48:42 UTC

oh, supernova, I forgot

2019-03-25 17:48:45 UTC

about 12k years ago, global average temperature rose by about 10deg C in about 10 years

2019-03-25 17:48:50 UTC

why do we still have corals?

2019-03-25 17:49:16 UTC

There's some truth the the climate change stuff

from what, to what?

2019-03-25 17:49:22 UTC

but there is a LOT of bullshit

2019-03-25 17:49:43 UTC

climate change is true, yeah

2019-03-25 17:49:50 UTC

some of it, anyway

2019-03-25 17:50:06 UTC

the 97% claim is bullshit, for example

From what temp to what Temp?

2019-03-25 17:50:22 UTC

from low temps to roughly present temps

2019-03-25 17:50:50 UTC

climate may be changing, but I don't see what we can do about it. realistic measures are way too drastic to implement, and paying for farts brings us nowhere

2019-03-25 17:51:08 UTC

though during some other previous ice age ends, the change was even bigger and to higher temps than what we have today.

2019-03-25 17:51:14 UTC

there are things that can be done, in theory, but all the money goes towards co2 reduction nonsense.

2019-03-25 17:51:25 UTC

exactly

2019-03-25 17:51:32 UTC

fight against desertification and shit

2019-03-25 17:51:37 UTC

Don't see on airplanes

2019-03-25 17:51:38 UTC

fuck CO2 reduction

2019-03-25 17:51:38 UTC

realistic measures like nuking china and india

2019-03-25 17:51:44 UTC

heard of bicycles? @M4Gunner

2019-03-25 17:51:46 UTC

They collect your pee

2019-03-25 17:51:57 UTC

And give it to China

2019-03-25 17:52:36 UTC

they produce a lot of our shit

2019-03-25 17:52:44 UTC

people like Bjørn Lomborg, who have "novel" ideas are ridiculed, and the world continues attempting to implement co2 reduction goals despite having failed every single attempt at upholding agreements since they started it back in the 70's or whatever.

2019-03-25 17:52:51 UTC

theres a lot of effort from the eco-types at least

2019-03-25 17:53:03 UTC

@Durtle02 I enjoy not breathing bricks

2019-03-25 17:53:07 UTC

The thing is, the co2 shit is really not solvable. It's a choice between a lot of people in poverty and co2

2019-03-25 17:53:08 UTC

Chinese bricks

2019-03-25 17:53:14 UTC

and that choice should be clear

2019-03-25 17:53:19 UTC

Ban China

2019-03-25 17:54:25 UTC

also co2 might be the wrong thing to focus on idk, before the climate craze co2 was considered good, plants thrive off it

2019-03-25 17:54:50 UTC
