which is?

2019-04-12 20:03:40 UTC

the vote is not binding?

2019-04-12 20:04:30 UTC

Danish Maastricht Treaty Referendum was called off because of the supernarrow margin of victory.

2019-04-12 20:05:03 UTC

how's that supposed to work?

2019-04-12 20:05:34 UTC

why wasn't the 2000 US presidential election called off then, it was even tighter

2019-04-12 20:05:35 UTC

?

2019-04-12 20:06:00 UTC

Irish one was redone because, well, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช isn't a democracy, it's just a socialist dictatorship.

2019-04-12 20:06:53 UTC

When it comes to bigtime referendums, countries tend to nullify them if the results are very close to avoid having almost 50% of the country really fucking mad.

2019-04-12 20:07:28 UTC

well that makes no sense

2019-04-12 20:07:38 UTC

why nullify?

2019-04-12 20:07:47 UTC

voting is not supposed to be a sport

2019-04-12 20:09:37 UTC

It ain't nice having around 50% of a country's population very unhappy, you usually want a not-tight race.

2019-04-12 20:10:39 UTC

Going back to the list...
French EU Constitution Referendum = ignored for no apparent reason, negotiated by politicians backstage, new shit came out in 2007 and was then voted by parliament (no referendum). That's quite anti-democratic if you ask me.

2019-04-12 20:13:27 UTC

Dutch EU Constitution Referendum = done 3 days after the French one, it was considered "irrelevant" because ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท had already voted against it. Originally, the EU Constitution had to win in ALL countries to proceed. It's quite disgusting how ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ ignored its own fucking rules.

Something interesting about the role of Spaniards in social media.
ยท A lot more people than you think brigade posts of people enjoying bad examples of Spanish food such as paella, gazpacho and others. The people destroying the food usually receive joke death threats.

"journalist Johanna Vehkoo was sentenced to pay fines for defamation of councilman Junes Lokka - both sides commented sentence to HS"

2019-04-14 01:58:51 UTC

Basically Johanna called Junes racist, nazi clown (honk honk) and nazi. She has to pay 150โ‚ฌ on 15 day fines. Also she had go pay 200โ‚ฌ to Lokka himself. Lokka was asking 1500โ‚ฌ but the district court deemed that his contribution lowered a mouth of the damage compensation.

2019-04-14 02:00:35 UTC

The court district also deemed that Johanna's statements weren't untruthful.

2019-04-14 02:04:37 UTC

Tldr what Johanna said about the sentence: she's upset, probably going to take it into higher court. Plays victim and says how "this kind of sentences are alarming for especially journalists that have been harassed online"
Tldr what Lokka said: doesn't want to put anymore time to the matter but is pretty sure Johanna will try to get the thing into higher court.

2019-04-14 02:07:58 UTC

"the court sees, that Lokka's political activity may have been critiqued, but the critic should have not been consentrated on Lokka as private individual."

2019-04-14 02:11:40 UTC

Cba to translate further but ya'll get the picture by now. Journalist claiming that the guy is nazi, court hesitantly agreeing that it was in fact defamation but cause Lokka ain't exactly most Suttle of fellas in our political field the fine was quite small.

2019-04-14 02:25:44 UTC

I should have put that into news... Oh well it's already here so...

2019-04-14 07:55:57 UTC

what's interesting is that Johanna Vehkoo has won multiple prices from different journalist organizations in Finland. These same organizations push for criminalization of hate speech (read: thought crimes) and claim that journalists are "under attack" when someone calls out their bs @Finno

2019-04-14 07:56:04 UTC

the nerve on these people
