Well, **Trials Rising** is kinda stupid in a few places, the single-player is *sketchy* at best. For example, the silly finishes plus certain movable parts of the sections clash hard against the overall "serious" approach to the game.

Then you have gameplay-related issues, that's not good. You gotta think like if this was the 80s, where you had to slow down on purpose on shit like **Ivan Stewart's Super Offroad** to avoid the AI from becoming insanely fast for certain stuff later on. I never thought I'd see another racing game where I have to slow down on purpose.

I gotta admit I'm kinda disappointed by the overall execution of this game. It's alright as a pick-up-and-play bullshit game and also as a sandbox (track editor) and even a party game (offline multiplayer)... but the single-player career mode was made by a bunch of idiots.

The fat bearded guy, the one that gives you contracts for the BMX bike or the "Donkey" (based after the Honda Monkey), is the creative director in real life, the one that appeared on the E3 conferenced riding a pitbike/minibike. He did a fantastic job with Fusion (the game has a fucking plot and it's amazing) but he has earned a solid F with Rising.

The only thing I've seen that is 100% a nice idea (but they didn't use it enough) was reusing certain stages. Some stages have an easy/medium version, then a hard/extreme version. It's kinda rare, still a solid concept that gives the player a nice feeling of "I'm getting into a bigger league".

Should we consider MotoGp a bloodsport? It's literally more dangerous than most "bloodsports".

It's a bit how most action sports are way more tamed than downhill alpine skiing or even bobsleigh.

Downhill alpine skiing is a sport that includes going down at speeds of up to 150kph and jump up to 65m in distance, all that only protected by a helmet, gloves and boots. It's way more dangerous than anything they do in the Winter X-Games. 😂

In MotoGp you see guys breaking bones, tearing ligaments and so on. Some riders end up racing half-drugged to somehow circumvent the pain. Bloodsports are way more tamed than that. 😂

Do you guys know of any "indie" developers of racing games? I kinda want to send someone the ideas I have and maybe get a job with that.

I have worked as a tester and consultant in a PS4 game.

Yes, I helped them make the game closer to reality by relaying rules of the real rulebooks regarding the competition.

Both about the vehicles and about the routes.

It was baffling how they did not know basic rules even non-hardcore fans of the race know.

The team was rather happy me but the game did not sell well enough so the company downsized quite a lot.

The studio was rather small even when I came in, around 40 people. They're currently at like 18 and almost nobody is working fulltime, most have sidejobs.

It wasn't my fault, there was a huge setback because the game changed engines rather late in development. It went from Unity to Unreal and that fucked the whole product quite a lot.

The main tool for a racing game is the vehicle-making tool, right? Imagine making a game with a broken tool because it is mostly incompatible with the freaking Unreal engine.

Some people don't understand that podcasts, even those without solid topics, need content to work.

JRE has content, they totally prepare their shit.

They have guests and Rogan and his team look for topics.

Those were awful but even then you can see that Rogan himself tried to keep himself up to date on news and other topics.

· The MotoE facilities, MotoGp's new class for electric bikes, got a bit toasted.

All 18 bikes got burned down, the first race is in like 5-6 weeks.

It's WOKESPORTS because even defenders of the electric car know that battery technology is nowhere near to be prepared for electric vehicles to be as useful as current ones. I saw a documentary like a week ago where a girl from sort of SoCal startup was like "we know e-cars aren't good for roadtrips, why not just rent a normal car if you ever want to do a roadtrip to another state?"

I have never shouted "BITCH, ARE YOU FOR REAL!?" harder at a screen.

Have you ever found a game so broken that a joke object or similar becomes a major almost-OP weapon? Well, that's what's happening with Trials Rising and the freaking BMX.

Exactly, an exaggerated version of the actual motorcycling discipline.

Well, now you know that the BMX is sometimes the best vehicle you can have on the harder sections. 😂 It's funny but I hate it because I know that this is proof they failed at doing a good job.

BMX trials exist in real life but they can't do the stuff the motorbike guys can.

Also, in the game, the BMX doesn't behave like it does in real life, it's basically a "superlight electric motorbike".

The torque is perfectly smooth, it's a straight, no curve.

And it weights so little you can do certain stuff a bit better. The only true weak points?
· Top speed, this makes it rather useless for the easier stuff and some HARD/EXTREME sections.
· The bounce after a hard landing is smaller than the one you get off the actual trials-like motorbike, which makes some obstacle harder to overcome.

The only true weak point is the top speed, the bounce is rarely a hardcore disadvantage.

The game is a bit all over the place when it comes to creative direction. The game is set in the present-day and has a "realistic" presentation, the sections look like actual sporting events... except you have explosives, do-or-die jumps, movie-like moments and endings that would kill any rider.

In the game before, Trials Fusion, all that was explained through a small plot that tied everything a bit. Your rider was not a "complete" human being but a clone and the AIs running the place were trying to create a utopia with the rider as the base. The sections in the game are "tests" to create a greater being.

One of the AIs literally tells you something like "stop using the RETRY button so often, you're depleting our reserves of biomass too quickly".

Some of the plastic/metal-looking "boxes" that you see by the side in some levels? They're coffins for the failed clones!

Nah, those were some fairly natural cannelloni. The place I took them from makes takeaway food, they prepare them decently, never had a problem with them in like 20-25 years.

I've read that stress could be a cause. I've had some weeks where my depression and suicidal tendencies have been fairly "lively".

Recently, I'm having dreams of killing myself, daydreams too. It's not like I try to think about it but my mind goes like "consider this scenario".

I rejected it. Rather be suicidal and socially retarded than just be high as fuck.

You know what I mean, I don't want drugs to just nullify my brain.

I ended up in the ER 3 times before turning 20. I haven't tried since (I'm 27) but I get impulses at times.
