@Deleted User Oh, I didn't mean to imply that. I was just curious as to if there was an official canonical reason in the Islamic holy book or if it was a traditional practice of Islam as a culture. I've seen some very varied Islamic practices.

I just googled and 2-10 years is roughly the average sentence for manslaughter in the UK. With the average for murder being 15. Unless someone shows me the numbers I can't believe the average for spousal murder is on par with manslaughter

UK generally has lower average sentence length than the US, where that claim is being made, as well
