We have Roman Catholic friends who we say nothing to but cannot figure out how they have not left. It’s corrupt from the top down

Regardless of how pious they might be, it’s putrid at the top

you kinda get stuck in the traditions, they may not be "roman"

We have tradition too and those traditions preserved the worship we have today. Orthodox only assembled scripture

when you polish, the culture just leads you to roman

I just have to shut my mouth to the sola scriptura crowd, tradition is also a part of our worship and that comes right from scripture

just remember that all things can be corrupted, in 5 generations the orthodox could also experience horrible sin due to some horrible people abusing the proper beliefs

takes a lot to stop doing something when its ingrained in you, and you have that crazy level of confirmation bais... its hard

Well, all humans can be corrupted save Christ alone.

I just copied what I read.

I was trying to figure out who was in the picture as it was not the actual black Pope of the Roman Catholics.

They have sort of two black Popes right now because the Black Pope and the White Pope are both Jesuits. The Black Pope is the Pope over the military a General really.

Only Jesuits can be the Black Pope.

No other White Pope was a Jesuit.

the church should have condemned the removal of god from anthlems... but nothing... not a peep.... should have called for the removal of all the priests accused of child abuse never to return... but instead he blamed the people who called out this horrible acts as if it was the devils deed to bring their sin into the light

What I read about Francis before becoming Pope absolutely sickened me. It was hard to believe he was chosen as Pope. Over and over again since them he has sickened me with his evil remarks.

@Steve Angell Most people know nothing about Orthodox Christianity. And while I will always keep my guard up I feel very comfortable with the beliefs and practices. It was a huge shift from my Protestant upbringing though and I had to dig deep to understand and be patient with the spiritual growth I needed to look at faith from a different perspective.

But while it might look like we are yoked to Rome because of that picture, we are not.

The pope is not a man of god

I did not take it that way. The Pope has huge power and sometimes meeting him to cool down things a bit might make sense.

The Pope is sort of like a two year old throwing a fit. Never should he have gotten that position.

Recently an Orthodox Monk/priest was assulted. I think it’s likely the person who assulted him thought he was catholic. Broke my heart...came up while he was getting gas with another priest in the car and sucker punched him. Our monks really just want to be in prayer for all of us. They don’t want to do anything but pray.
