I just copied what I read.

I was trying to figure out who was in the picture as it was not the actual black Pope of the Roman Catholics.

They have sort of two black Popes right now because the Black Pope and the White Pope are both Jesuits. The Black Pope is the Pope over the military a General really.

Only Jesuits can be the Black Pope.

No other White Pope was a Jesuit.

Now if I am wrong please correct me.

What I read about Francis before becoming Pope absolutely sickened me. It was hard to believe he was chosen as Pope. Over and over again since them he has sickened me with his evil remarks.

@Steve Angell Most people know nothing about Orthodox Christianity. And while I will always keep my guard up I feel very comfortable with the beliefs and practices. It was a huge shift from my Protestant upbringing though and I had to dig deep to understand and be patient with the spiritual growth I needed to look at faith from a different perspective.

But while it might look like we are yoked to Rome because of that picture, we are not.

The pope is not a man of god

I did not take it that way. The Pope has huge power and sometimes meeting him to cool down things a bit might make sense.

The Pope is sort of like a two year old throwing a fit. Never should he have gotten that position.

Recently an Orthodox Monk/priest was assulted. I think it’s likely the person who assulted him thought he was catholic. Broke my heart...came up while he was getting gas with another priest in the car and sucker punched him. Our monks really just want to be in prayer for all of us. They don’t want to do anything but pray.

He shouldn’t have. Our closest friends converted to Rome while we converted to Orthodoxy. We left the Anglican nightmare simultaneously but he was a priest and now is a Roman priest.

We talked for over a year before he committed and he didn’t want to be under this pope.

Poor man.

Yes my heart goes out to so many Catholics who are burdened having this man as their Pope.

Semi reclusive/reclusive and really they pray continually for all of us, the world. They don’t start hospitals they just pray

They tend to be good spiritual fathers. Vow of chastity and poverty

They keep the daily hours (prayers every three hours).

But they welcome outsiders to the monesteries to worship and pray with them. Aren’t super social but do want to pray for us and provide spiritual guidance

So, interesting little fact....this week is our Holy Week. We have Pascha (Easter) this weekend. Our Paschsl service begins at 10:00 pm Saturday and goes through 1:30pm where we then have a feast. Next week is Brite Week were we will continue to celebrate Christ’s resurrection.


If you ever get an opportunity to go to a Paschal service, go. It’s really something else. Our biggest celebration of the year...more than Christmas.
