I am Old Testament only. I see the New as pure deception. Thus when I see this video of all the dragons and severed heads. I go to the Hebrew with Strong;s, Thayer, and AHLB. I also have learned a lot about Hebrew from Nehemiah Gordon he has audio and some video. Keith Johnson as well was helpful in helping me understand the need to go to the Hebrew for real understanding. I find the NIV far closer to the Hebrew than other translations though I use 25 or so on occasion. I like The Scriptures for the Hebrew names as the NIV does not do that rather uses the invalid transliterations. Transliteration is totally invalid for important people.

I studied the Church Fathers to understand how the New Testament came about. What the thinking was of the men who had access to the text of the New Testament before it was finalized in what we now have. Though there are drastic differences in the Greek documents of the New Testament. Most are not important but many are important.

I suppose more than anything else it was the threats Christians love to use against those they perceive to not be following exactly their version of Christianity.
