According to American History and the Constitution, we were trying to escape Democracy NOT make a democracy. What we were trying to achieve was infact a Republic, or Republicanism.

Because our Republic is governed by a set of rules that must be followed or otherwise we the people have the right to take down the deep state, and because we have an Election System that requires this Constitution, it's therefore a Constitutional Republic
