Yes, she went beyond the acceptable line with a gun literally pointed in her face.
I read she was not even armed
I have mixed feelings about it. That’s worded poorly because it was tragic she lost her life. But if that officer let her in, more are going to come through and overwhelm that area as well and I think that is where the congresspeople were hiding.
Where is the part where she is getting dragged though the mud by 'the media'?
I do not know what compels you to continue trying to push through a barricaded area when you have a gun literally pointed at you.
Her death was extremely unfortunate, and I'd much rather that the capitol police actually did their job, but this wasn't your standard riot guard.
Exactly, perhaps she did not see it or know a gun was being pointed at her. The officer waited till she almost come into the room and shot once. I don’t think he will get any charges.
These people take protecting the government body extremely seriously.
What else could you have expected as they're trying to evacuate people?
She was unarmed. I just feel as a trained officer, there should be other ways to suppress unlawful action other than shooting an unarmed person breaking the law.
He was protecting government officials from a mob inside of the building. I'm not one to protect officers usually, but this seems like a case of "well what else could you do if you're the last of the line?"
He had to hold them there to protect government officials evacuating.
This isn't a single person, keep that in mind. This is a mob.
He could have arrested her. Used a stun gun or other means to contain her.
He wasn't a traditional officer, he didn't have a stun gun, nor backup. And there was a mob on the other side of the door.
I don't know, I feel officers should be trained to used a gun or life-ending measure as a last defense.
This isn't a traditional officer.
I think we need to take a critical look at what led up to her being there to begin with. The President, Social Media compaies, and RWM led her to that moment and for NOTHING. The election was not stolen and they all know it. You see all of these companies reeling and trying to extricate themselves from the guilt they all share.
That officer trying to protect his charges from an angry mob, I am sure, is having to deal with the consequences of his actions. He did not want to take that woman's life. He did not want to be in that position and he shouldn't have been.
What type of officer shot her?
@bunny_foofoo9, you just advanced to level 1!
We disagree I see. I just think, when you decide to become an officer, or secret service, you know there may be certain things required of you. Think of the men/women who died during 9/11. But their training kicked in and they did their job despite the unusual circumstances. I do not know what kind of screening and/or training can better prepare these officers to handle these situations.
This again, is not your traditional officer.
This dude has himself and a gun.
He doesn't have a GM with a deployable minigun.
You got to remember these folks are the last line of defense when it comes to protecting important people.
The fact that he ever had to get involved is a travesty.
Maw, I agree.
It should have never gotten to this point.
Also... This was not a harmless field trip to the US Capital. People were found to have long rifles, IED's, Molotov cocktails, homemade napalm, firearms, and a host of other weapons. He was behind an improvised barricade and unable to determine what was happening on the other side. For all he knew, they were placing explosives to remove the barricade.
He likely had been hearing about officers being beaten repeatedly, officers being crushed and more.
Like, what do you expect of the dude when someone's trying to crawl through your barricade and there are a bunch of people screaming on the other side?
Crawling through the barricade despite you holding a gun in their face*
I am not sure the training protocol under those circumstances. But there had to be some training. They are trained to bring our officials to a bunker during an insurgence. So there must have been procedure to handle barricades being broken. Others were not shot that entered through broken windows.
The procedure I imagine is to stop them by any means necessary if they're already breaching the capitol building and you're on your last stand.
Again, these people aren't your traditional police.
Is Biden advising people not to come his inauguration? I have not heard either way?
I just heard trump may be about to declare martial law in the next 3 days this is coming from somebody who knows folks in govt so he says have 2 wks food cash on hand plenty gas etc. So just in case this is true thought I'd let everyone here know
Always good to be prepared, but I doubt that'll happen, at all.
Unless Trump wants to get impeached/25thed for real.
I know I dont wanna believe it but yea just in case ...
