Y’all are welcome
Were it not for buddhist teachings I would’ve not grown and learned so much
Society’s perception of love is so distorted nowadays, most people have started relationships out of need
Actually Western Civilization has nothing to do with co-dependent relationships.
Having experienced several codependent persons in the past, codependency starts with one person training another to literally jump through irrational hoops. The other person unknowingly gets caught up in it. In other relationships both parties come into it already codependent, and it just evolves from there. If your stable enough to recognize the insanity, it's very easy to pull out of the relationship as it is like fleeing to safety. If you're not stable enough, codependent relationship creates its own cognitive dissonance which pulls you deeper into it. Learning about cognitive dissonance is the best way to guard against falling into a codependent relationship.
Very well said, AZ. I knew you were very sharp.
Never underestimate the power of cognitive dissonance.
@Karnivore it can become debilitating trying to figure out multiple if not dozens of conflicting ideas at the same time. Another aspect to look at is what used to be called neurosis. Now called OCD amongst other things. Neurosis can cover a whole gamut of Behavioral issues. My experience has been people who are neurotic create and co-dependent relationships in order to irrationally manipulate the other person. The cognitive dissonance created in the mind of the victim then causes them to participate in the codependency as a way of fighting back. At this point both parties seemingly have lost their minds
You are precisely correct.
I believe that fewer and fewer people have discernment, in any shape or form.
I knew one entire family that was completely codependent
They can't even figure out what to wear, so how could they be expected to figure out a complex issue, or 50 complex issues that we incur in our daily lives?
I do see that these things run in families, too.
Just the cognitive dissonance is a mind fuck
Absolutely true.
You can't think straight
👍
I feel for folks who have these types of issues.
I really do.
I want to help them, somehow.
The problem is they pull you in
