It's not a position I personally agree with, but I can't blame you for it. However, you're still not really addressing my original point: That is, **regardless** of whether or not the government is "telling you what to do", why wouldn't you just wear a mask anyway out of respect for the people who are concerned that they may contract the virus and unwittingly spread it to someone who may be vulnerable?

It’s not “the deep state” warning people about the dangers of this disease, though. It’s also the entire medical community, and the entire scientific community. Additionally, the governments of every country in the world - I mean, come on, you know that this isn’t just a USA thing, right? Additionally, even if people aren't dying, the virus causes serious lung damage that can be permanent. I know several people who caught the virus, but are perfectly alive because they're young and healthy and whatnot. However, their lungs have sustained serious, possibly life-long damage as a result of it, all because they interacted with people (like you?) that were looking out for themselves before looking out for others.
