the highest is ... Iceland

2019-03-25 22:13:36 UTC

and they are the least tradcon of european nations

2019-03-25 22:16:33 UTC

@JDB
``tips for productivtiy?``
i'd just quote TFM:
JUST DO IT 😂
(but I'm struggling with that myself)

2019-03-25 22:17:22 UTC

lol, you're the second one today, who mentioned it XD

2019-03-25 22:17:36 UTC

@Misanthropic Imperial told me about it just today XD

2019-03-25 22:18:06 UTC

if its that 25 min being productive stuff ...

2019-03-25 22:18:16 UTC

study zone ?

2019-03-25 22:19:10 UTC

hmmm

2019-03-25 22:19:37 UTC

so ...1.
I know something similar as the 52/17 rule , with 52min being productive/in a flow ...
but as I said to MI: yeah, the hyperactive youth nowadays, 25min is probably the upper limit they can handle 😛

2019-03-25 22:20:14 UTC

2. yeah, maybe sort of this time management makes sense,
but I would never force myself not work

2019-03-25 22:20:29 UTC

why ?
I think it depends on the person

2019-03-25 22:20:51 UTC

and you can't never do complex programming stuff in 25 min

2019-03-25 22:21:19 UTC

ever underestimate the productivity losses by "context switches"

2019-03-25 22:22:14 UTC

i never managed it that fine grained

2019-03-25 22:23:03 UTC

I did my work first as long as it would take,
then played my computer games ...

2019-03-25 22:23:24 UTC

I tried this 52/17 method for a while ... but meh ...

2019-03-25 22:23:36 UTC

didn't have enough discipline for that

2019-03-25 22:23:44 UTC

I actually try to get into a "flow"

2019-03-25 22:24:03 UTC

which may last for 90 min or so

2019-03-25 22:24:11 UTC

then I'd naturally do a break

2019-03-25 22:24:38 UTC

my rule is more like: never break your flow

2019-03-25 22:26:00 UTC

tbh, I find this 25 min stuff too short,
it usually takes you 5-10 min to get into the "normal" stuff
so then you have only 15 min left to "think" and make progress

2019-03-25 22:26:22 UTC

with more complex things I think it can take even longer

2019-03-25 22:26:37 UTC

no , i never tried the 25 min rule

2019-03-25 22:26:42 UTC

I guess I could give it a try

2019-03-25 22:27:07 UTC

but I know myself, how long it takes to make this context switch back to the problem

2019-03-25 22:38:01 UTC

so basically you have to know yourself

2019-03-25 22:38:17 UTC

and know how long does it take you, to get again into your code

2019-03-25 22:39:00 UTC

from there you know, how much time you'd need to work productively to make progress

2019-03-25 22:39:15 UTC

getting interrupted by something is actually the worst in this process

2019-03-25 22:39:50 UTC

and when you're doing a pause, you can use that time as well for planning the stuff around the work,
e.g. like when to eat, etc

2019-03-25 22:57:32 UTC

You're talking about deep work now.

2019-03-25 22:57:44 UTC

For that you have to block off hours and insulate yourself from interruption.

2019-03-25 23:22:30 UTC

@Xychotic thank you 👍

2019-03-25 23:23:05 UTC

ok, maybe it's indeed different for menial tasks

2019-03-26 00:13:55 UTC

Hey muricans of the server, im talking to this guy who is goning on about america being founded by puritans

2019-03-26 00:17:21 UTC

Well it's not wrong

2019-03-26 00:18:08 UTC

There are puritans who founded several colonies and some of the founding fathers may have been puritans, though most were deists.

2019-03-26 00:21:38 UTC

How much did that affect the country though?

2019-03-26 00:25:20 UTC

Uh, debatable.

2019-03-26 00:26:10 UTC
