I don't know if Pence would resort to that or not, but the sergeant-at-arms can compel or even arrest.

Never mind, it was a PDF so I could just hit the search icon 😅 that's insane though!

2020-12-16 20:59:47 UTC

I'm confused about something though. I know that if no candidate receives the 270+ votes that the House votes for president from state delegation, but what I'm seeing conflicting info about is during the contestation period of the certification of each of the electors, do they still vote by state delegation, or is it a regular vote ?

2020-12-16 21:01:00 UTC

It's a sealed vote, so in other words, they voted but no one knows how they voted. come January 6th they open up the envelopes and count the votes.

2020-12-16 21:01:09 UTC

Is that what you were talking about?

2020-12-16 21:02:07 UTC

Well that's the entire proces I'm talking about, but I'm talking about both chambers of Congress objecting to and then voting on rejecting certain electors.

2020-12-16 21:03:58 UTC

I believe if I'm not mistaken on what you're saying, is delegation up until the point where they don't have 270 votes. I'm trying to understand your question sorry.

2020-12-16 21:05:41 UTC

During the counting of each states' electoral votes, if 1 member from each chamber object to the counting of one, then the joint session of Congress must divide into their separate chambers and debate and then vote on a motion to withdraw the elector(s).

2020-12-16 21:07:30 UTC

Then that vote would be a regular vote I would imagine

2020-12-16 21:08:04 UTC

That scares me then cuz there's no way either chamber is gonna vote to discard Biden electors.

2020-12-16 21:20:25 UTC

Don’t be so sure. The republicans fear a progressive Biden agenda more than they dislike the president.

2020-12-16 21:20:53 UTC

I don't know if I agree.

2020-12-16 21:21:04 UTC

The problem is the order that was pushed by the house I believe that said the electoral college voters can not go against the popular vote

2020-12-16 21:21:11 UTC

Some of the Republicans are wolves in sheep clothing and actually secretly desire what the Dems do

2020-12-16 21:21:22 UTC

Sorry I’m going back to earlier in the conversation

2020-12-16 21:22:09 UTC

Which order by the House ?

2020-12-16 21:22:56 UTC

Not to sure but I remember basically it said the electoral college voters could not vote against the popular vote

2020-12-16 21:23:02 UTC

Let me see if I can find it

2020-12-16 21:23:58 UTC

I don't think that's in a law, sounds like somebody's opinion

2020-12-16 21:25:12 UTC

I think this has something to do with it

2020-12-16 21:25:52 UTC

I’m not so good on all the legal stuff though, so let me know if I’m wrong

2020-12-16 21:26:17 UTC

That is an opinion like you were saying

2020-12-16 21:27:05 UTC

No no, I don't mean a court opinion, that's different cuz it's legally binding, lol. By opinion, I meant by just a regular person or a non-justice.

2020-12-16 21:30:18 UTC

This also seem related, but again I’m not very smart when it comes to this stuff so sorry

2020-12-16 21:30:51 UTC

I think that's the same case, lol.

2020-12-16 21:31:17 UTC

Well it was related then 😅

2020-12-16 21:37:57 UTC

Well then now I'm not sure what to make of any of this, cuz it wouln't matter what happens outside of court then, right ?

2020-12-16 21:38:06 UTC

January 6th, 2021 wouldn't matter

2020-12-16 22:01:43 UTC

we're not hoping they vote against the populous vote, we want there vote to not count, that's why we're hopping they get rejected.

2020-12-16 22:02:55 UTC

That's true, lol.

2020-12-16 22:03:00 UTC

Yeah yeah for sure

2020-12-16 22:03:27 UTC

But as it “seems” right now is Biden is in the lead for the popular vote

2020-12-16 22:04:42 UTC

So really though, is there no way for Trump to get 270+ ?

2020-12-16 22:05:34 UTC

That’s what I’m wondering

2020-12-16 22:05:53 UTC

nope

2020-12-16 22:06:08 UTC

that's not where we are heading though

2020-12-16 22:06:21 UTC

I think the only way would be in the courts. I really do think once the SCOTUS sees all the evidence, that they can get those ballots thrown out cuz law even says those ballots shouldn't be counted if they're unlawfull.

2020-12-16 22:06:24 UTC

what happens when neither candidate get's 270

2020-12-16 22:07:04 UTC

it won't be in the courts
