i hate the current state of gaming, just like the current state of movies and literature. everyone is buying garbage and becoming personally invested in it so any criticism comes off as a criticism against the person themselves

2019-04-20 08:45:53 UTC

agree

2019-04-20 08:46:08 UTC

Is that how you percieve my argument?

2019-04-20 08:46:21 UTC

what was your argument

2019-04-20 08:46:36 UTC

woot

2019-04-20 08:46:42 UTC

that was mean XD

2019-04-20 08:47:23 UTC

i scrolled up and it was something about cod and jrpgs being the new philosophers

2019-04-20 08:47:31 UTC

That games can still dive into the same topics or themes as books and still have the same layers of depth as the novels.

2019-04-20 08:47:48 UTC

sure, i agree, but they have to approach it using the strengths of their medium

2019-04-20 08:47:59 UTC

if games try to copy movies they will fail. they need to be games first

2019-04-20 08:48:03 UTC

But you just said they couldn't

2019-04-20 08:48:07 UTC

because they dont

2019-04-20 08:48:27 UTC

There's a difference between "couldn't" and "don't"

2019-04-20 08:48:38 UTC

@Happy Humble Hermit what’s your favorite game type btw

2019-04-20 08:49:07 UTC

@Nawalter Jizney i enjoy everything except rts games and even then ive played a few rts games

2019-04-20 08:49:40 UTC

Gotcha

2019-04-20 08:49:52 UTC

So it depends on the game

2019-04-20 08:50:04 UTC

Ultimately

2019-04-20 08:50:04 UTC

There are games that have themes about the human desire for violence through action heavy combat, if that's what you're saying.

2019-04-20 08:50:49 UTC

very few games have incorporated serious themes into gameplay. im trying to think of a few

2019-04-20 08:50:59 UTC

telltale's walking dead was great but thats barely a game

2019-04-20 08:51:07 UTC

I ask cause I didn’t expect a dungeon crawler game

2019-04-20 08:51:07 UTC

lul

2019-04-20 08:51:09 UTC

Hotline Miami?

2019-04-20 08:51:21 UTC

Fallout?

2019-04-20 08:51:23 UTC

@Nawalter Jizney what dungeon crawler game

2019-04-20 08:51:38 UTC

hotline miami and fallout definitely

2019-04-20 08:52:11 UTC

Okay, I get what you're saying.

2019-04-20 08:52:12 UTC

Like the clip of mouse utopia you showed

2019-04-20 08:52:29 UTC

It’s 1st person dungeon crawler

2019-04-20 08:53:06 UTC

I'd say Deus Ex, but that's only because of what I've heard.

2019-04-20 08:53:08 UTC

for my game im aiming at re-creating elder scrolls 1/2. i cant afford everything bethesda can but with that style i can do an rpg that incorporates player choice and freedom better than anything they've made recently

2019-04-20 08:53:33 UTC

i didnt have all the assets for the setting outside of the dungeon when i made that video

2019-04-20 08:53:56 UTC

Undertale does it as well. Though in a more... tedious fashion

2019-04-20 08:54:15 UTC

Dark Souls does too, I'd say.

2019-04-20 08:54:29 UTC

I’d recommend checking out dragon view, that might help later on@Happy Humble Hermit

2019-04-20 08:54:33 UTC

i would agree with both of those as well @[chase dreams]

2019-04-20 08:54:50 UTC

@Happy Humble Hermit Shit, I don't even know why we were arguing then.

2019-04-20 08:55:08 UTC

Either way it’s not a negative thing, I just didn’t see it going from Mario platformer to dnd

2019-04-20 08:55:22 UTC
