Ultimately
There are games that have themes about the human desire for violence through action heavy combat, if that's what you're saying.
very few games have incorporated serious themes into gameplay. im trying to think of a few
telltale's walking dead was great but thats barely a game
I ask cause I didn’t expect a dungeon crawler game
lul
Hotline Miami?
Fallout?
@Nawalter Jizney what dungeon crawler game
hotline miami and fallout definitely
Okay, I get what you're saying.
Like the clip of mouse utopia you showed
It’s 1st person dungeon crawler
I'd say Deus Ex, but that's only because of what I've heard.
for my game im aiming at re-creating elder scrolls 1/2. i cant afford everything bethesda can but with that style i can do an rpg that incorporates player choice and freedom better than anything they've made recently
i didnt have all the assets for the setting outside of the dungeon when i made that video
Undertale does it as well. Though in a more... tedious fashion
Dark Souls does too, I'd say.
I’d recommend checking out dragon view, that might help later on@Happy Humble Hermit
i would agree with both of those as well @[chase dreams]
Either way it’s not a negative thing, I just didn’t see it going from Mario platformer to dnd
omg ...
almost bought the mgtow book with our family amazon account

@Happy Humble Hermit Bloody snake in da grass mon!
basically i want games to use their gameplay to create an experience. cutscenes and dialogue should be used as supplements to the player experience, not become a crutch that everything rests on. gameplay first and foremost, always,
The way I see it, games have a unique way of storytelling that they don't utilize enough.
First Person Storytelling
well what you like as far as gameplay goes is subjective
Books can tell you the story and movies can show you the story
Games put you in the story
@Happy Humble Hermit so ideally you might want something like evoland?
cuz i love the shit out of crusader kings 2 but all it really is, is text and number crunching :V
At least, they should
yes games should put you in the story. and the games that do are classics. and do gaming justice
It's one of the reason's I love the silent protagonist so much.
Star ocean is definitely a big hitter
They're a vessel to put yourself into, a blank canvas. A ghost in the shell
gameplay preferences are subjective, but i can appreciate the player experience through the amount of variables present. crusader kings look like an excel spreadsheet to me, but i can appreciate all the different variables that create your unique player experience.
Gordon Freeman, Master Chief, Prisoner 849
