not as a career, as a hobby. before i wanted to legit work on triple a games.
most of my dreams I'm chasing are shit I'm going to make a hobby anyways.
I'm gonna work a day job, I'm just not going to make this stuff my career. It's a passion fueled hobby and nothing else.

``the act of reading itself is good for comprehension skills. reading some shitty dialogue in a game doesnt count as reading``
ya know ... you could say, the act of gaming itself (like shooters, etc), is good for fine motor activity
while flipping pages of a shitty book doesnt count as training fine motor activity
(or eye-hand coordination)

@conker ok. you can develop motor skills doing almost anything. and it depends what level of skill you're at, the pros for starcraft 2 have a better developed motor skill than a kid playing minecraft. i love video games and i can acknowledge that they're a waste of time, that doesn't lesson it at all because its just a game.
"time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted"
exactly

I just wanted to play devils advocate here,
in the last years I sort of switched to a model where I differenciate between productive and leisure activities
productive is everything, which counts towards making money, self improvement, etc - basically making my life better
while leisure is everything else- basically sort of waste of time 😛
but also "I hope you didnt just fuck around and waste your life OOOWEE" - Mr poopybutthole
So?
i made that video about my friend who does nothing but plays video games and nerdy shit and loves life. im not hating on it i approach it from a different point of view. there are so many things video games can offer, but they are an incredible shitload of things video games can't offer you.
yeah, but same goes for books
depends on the books fam
depends on the games as well 😛
ok I'm done lol
romantic novels and shitty sci-fi sure. but there are metaphysical books than can change your modus operandi. a great game doesnt change my life
( a la kafka, etc :P)
while I did learn more about history / WW2 in the CoD games during the loading screens 😛
if the witcher 3 or <insert good game here> changed your outlook on life you're easily influenced
i learned so much from world of warcraft growing up.
You're being way too narrow minded.
👆
longest time in my youth i played a shit ton of Age of Empires 2, was the best history lesson :V
@Happy Humble Hermit lol, wtf ...
I maybe have 15 games in my steam list 😛
Yeah, sure, a life changing story isn't the reason you buy a game. But does that mean it can't explore those themes? Does that mean a game can't dive into the same topics as century old philosophers?
Persona 3? Persona 4?
granted, I don't remember much of the games contents anymore,
but same applies to school contents as well
still, I love strategy games,
c&c is also great tactics, you can learn a lot of making good logical decisions in games
"140 games never played"
I'm sorry Hermit, but I think you're just entering into games with the mindset of a 14 year old playing call of duty.
If only SLIGHTLY better
wtf dudes ... why are you spending so much money in steam ...
I hate steam
