Jayztwocents is a pretty good alternative

You guys wanna see something funny?

My graphics card runs at a toasty 90C lol

Honestly, modern GPUs are designed for 90C and many will keep trying to overclock themselves to get to that temperature.

2020-10-27 20:47:45 UTC

Not a gtx 480 😅

@SANDY I also enjoy Level1Techs as an alternative if you aren't going for pure reviews thou they also do reviews. They do some cool prosumer and even some entry level enterprise projects.

2020-10-27 20:54:07 UTC

There is also a sister Level1Linux for those Linux lovers

2020-10-28 00:52:14 UTC

nice, ill go check them out

I GOT A 3090 BOYS!!!!

2020-10-28 17:53:01 UTC

Hell yea, just plucked one up from a 3rd party seller for $100 over retail. Got the founders edition too.

2020-10-28 18:45:56 UTC

I hate the people who sale cards way over market, I got a Vega 64 when I came out a few years ago off eBay and paid $120 over market just to get it because I needed it to finish my build.

guys i just realized my old ipad has been with us since 1st grade

2020-10-28 18:51:37 UTC

and i still use it

2020-10-28 18:55:31 UTC

I have an old Dell OptiPlex GX520, manufactured in June of 2006. I was able to upgrade the CPU and the RAM. I’m still looking for a graphics card, but the motherboard only has two PCI slots. Is there any time of converter so a PCI E would work with it? Currently I am relying on Intel integrated graphics from my Intel Pentium R Dual Core, which strains it a lot. Thanks for the feedback! (Ping me)

PCIe and PCI are completely different technologies and even if there is a way to convert PCIe to PCI, PCI would be such an incredible bottleneck it would not be worth it from a performance standpoint.

Ic

2020-10-28 18:59:11 UTC

It also has a PCI E 1x slot, but I don’t think they make cards that fit that

2020-10-28 19:00:31 UTC

Basically a size of a slot for a WiFi card

2020-10-28 19:00:42 UTC

PCIe is backwards compatible so you have two options. You can either file off the back of the slot to make a 16x fit or use a PCIe extender and connect the card that way.

2020-10-28 19:03:24 UTC

Is it a PCIe m.2 slot or just a normal 1x slot? Either way you can use an extender to fit a GPU. It will be bottlenecked on the bandwidth but much less then PCI would.

2020-10-28 19:03:51 UTC

I would have to look

2020-10-28 19:04:02 UTC

But I’m pretty sure it’s a 1x

2020-10-28 19:14:54 UTC

It's been a few years but I remember there was a LTT video that showed that while there was a bottle neck with 1x over 16x it wasn't as much as you would expect. I'd also imagine with the age of your computer your not expecting to put a 3090 in it.

Correct

2020-10-28 19:26:22 UTC

The pci express is the little black one on the bottom

2020-10-28 19:27:12 UTC

I’m just thinking of something that would give me decent quality

2020-10-28 19:30:02 UTC
2020-10-28 19:30:45 UTC

I’m assuming it would work with the extender?

2020-10-28 19:31:31 UTC
2020-10-28 19:32:33 UTC

Ok

2020-10-28 19:33:01 UTC

How would you mount the graphics card? Outside or inside the case?

2020-10-28 19:36:18 UTC

That is an inside the case extender. Can you fit/attach a GPU above the PCI slots where the missing 16x slot would go?

2020-10-28 19:48:23 UTC

yeah, i could probably find a way to do that

2020-10-28 19:48:37 UTC

because im not using them

A: All of them

Does anyone else think Apples motto at this point is "Create problems sell solutions"

2020-11-01 18:05:50 UTC

To an extent, Apple Care seems to be one of the few extended warranties worth it. That's mainly because unlike PCs (desktop or laptops) there is almost nothing inside the average user with a online tutorial can repair.
