Have you tried Steam Proton? Its steams game optimized WINE and works well with a surprising number of my game backlog. The changes that make are also usually pushed upstream to the main WINE fork.
That said I do agree with your sentiment that I wish more my games were Linux native which is why I have only bought a few games over the last few years. Of those I bought, I prefer to buy off GOG. That way I'm not locked into steam for games and actually own the game.
steam proton rules, for almost any game, other than ones with draconian anticheat that doesnt even stop cheaters
Bethesda games don’t run on Linux, at least Mx Linux
I’ve tried FO4 and skyrim, not sure if I tried new Vegas
Gonna check out this video and see how clickbait it is. Linus tends to do this to get views because he is a pile of shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XaOeLPztN4&ab_channel=LinusTechTips
yup 100% click bait title. Fucking Linus is such a dickmuncher. I hate having to watch his videos because about 10% of the time the title is not click bait. Jesus.
I stopped watching Linus consistently years ago. Between how much click bait and the amount of cringe he adds it just wasn't worth it. That said, I do still watch the occasional video because he has the budget to do some cooler projects.

@Kid Persona the GOG release of New Vegas has a gold rating for WINE (what Proton is a fork of) so it would probably work just fine when playing. Probably helps New Vegas wasn't made by Bethesda.
Jayztwocents is a pretty good alternative
You guys wanna see something funny?
Honestly, modern GPUs are designed for 90C and many will keep trying to overclock themselves to get to that temperature.
Not a gtx 480 😅

@SANDY I also enjoy Level1Techs as an alternative if you aren't going for pure reviews thou they also do reviews. They do some cool prosumer and even some entry level enterprise projects.
There is also a sister Level1Linux for those Linux lovers
nice, ill go check them out
I GOT A 3090 BOYS!!!!
Hell yea, just plucked one up from a 3rd party seller for $100 over retail. Got the founders edition too.
I hate the people who sale cards way over market, I got a Vega 64 when I came out a few years ago off eBay and paid $120 over market just to get it because I needed it to finish my build.
guys i just realized my old ipad has been with us since 1st grade
I have an old Dell OptiPlex GX520, manufactured in June of 2006. I was able to upgrade the CPU and the RAM. I’m still looking for a graphics card, but the motherboard only has two PCI slots. Is there any time of converter so a PCI E would work with it? Currently I am relying on Intel integrated graphics from my Intel Pentium R Dual Core, which strains it a lot. Thanks for the feedback! (Ping me)
PCIe and PCI are completely different technologies and even if there is a way to convert PCIe to PCI, PCI would be such an incredible bottleneck it would not be worth it from a performance standpoint.
Ic
It also has a PCI E 1x slot, but I don’t think they make cards that fit that
Basically a size of a slot for a WiFi card
PCIe is backwards compatible so you have two options. You can either file off the back of the slot to make a 16x fit or use a PCIe extender and connect the card that way.
Is it a PCIe m.2 slot or just a normal 1x slot? Either way you can use an extender to fit a GPU. It will be bottlenecked on the bandwidth but much less then PCI would.
I would have to look
But I’m pretty sure it’s a 1x
It's been a few years but I remember there was a LTT video that showed that while there was a bottle neck with 1x over 16x it wasn't as much as you would expect. I'd also imagine with the age of your computer your not expecting to put a 3090 in it.
Correct
The pci express is the little black one on the bottom
I’m just thinking of something that would give me decent quality
I’m assuming it would work with the extender?

Something like this is what you want.
Ok
How would you mount the graphics card? Outside or inside the case?
