2020-10-22 19:46:54 UTC

I OC'd my threadripper to 4.0 and use a tank cooler to keep it cold enough

2020-10-22 19:46:58 UTC

to not melt the motherboard

2020-10-22 19:47:04 UTC

2020-10-22 19:47:12 UTC

almost need a car radiator for the damn thing it is so hot

2020-10-22 19:47:49 UTC

I had to do a literal cooling block and retro fit it front and back with heat tape to keep dew from forming on the outside of the cooling block and mobo

2020-10-22 19:48:01 UTC

linux man

2020-10-26 01:07:29 UTC

Linux is the superior kernel for an OS

2020-10-26 13:20:49 UTC

I just wish that more games were supported on it because it is a much better OS than windows

2020-10-26 13:21:30 UTC

At least it has Super Tux Kart lol

2020-10-26 16:16:10 UTC

Have you tried Steam Proton? Its steams game optimized WINE and works well with a surprising number of my game backlog. The changes that make are also usually pushed upstream to the main WINE fork.

That said I do agree with your sentiment that I wish more my games were Linux native which is why I have only bought a few games over the last few years. Of those I bought, I prefer to buy off GOG. That way I'm not locked into steam for games and actually own the game.

2020-10-27 05:19:44 UTC

steam proton rules, for almost any game, other than ones with draconian anticheat that doesnt even stop cheaters

2020-10-27 11:09:36 UTC

Bethesda games don’t run on Linux, at least Mx Linux

2020-10-27 11:10:15 UTC

I’ve tried FO4 and skyrim, not sure if I tried new Vegas

2020-10-27 14:26:51 UTC

Gonna check out this video and see how clickbait it is. Linus tends to do this to get views because he is a pile of shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XaOeLPztN4&ab_channel=LinusTechTips

2020-10-27 14:34:23 UTC

yup 100% click bait title. Fucking Linus is such a dickmuncher. I hate having to watch his videos because about 10% of the time the title is not click bait. Jesus.

2020-10-27 14:46:08 UTC

I stopped watching Linus consistently years ago. Between how much click bait and the amount of cringe he adds it just wasn't worth it. That said, I do still watch the occasional video because he has the budget to do some cooler projects.

> I’ve tried FO4 and slim m skyrim, not sure if I tried new Vegas
@Kid Persona the GOG release of New Vegas has a gold rating for WINE (what Proton is a fork of) so it would probably work just fine when playing. Probably helps New Vegas wasn't made by Bethesda.

Jayztwocents is a pretty good alternative

2020-10-27 20:27:30 UTC

You guys wanna see something funny?

2020-10-27 20:37:05 UTC

My graphics card runs at a toasty 90C lol

2020-10-27 20:45:29 UTC

Honestly, modern GPUs are designed for 90C and many will keep trying to overclock themselves to get to that temperature.

2020-10-27 20:47:45 UTC

Not a gtx 480 😅

2020-10-27 20:48:19 UTC

> Jayztwocents is a pretty good alternative
@SANDY I also enjoy Level1Techs as an alternative if you aren't going for pure reviews thou they also do reviews. They do some cool prosumer and even some entry level enterprise projects.

2020-10-27 20:54:07 UTC

There is also a sister Level1Linux for those Linux lovers

2020-10-28 00:52:14 UTC

nice, ill go check them out

2020-10-28 17:52:29 UTC

I GOT A 3090 BOYS!!!!

2020-10-28 17:53:01 UTC

Hell yea, just plucked one up from a 3rd party seller for $100 over retail. Got the founders edition too.

2020-10-28 18:45:56 UTC

I hate the people who sale cards way over market, I got a Vega 64 when I came out a few years ago off eBay and paid $120 over market just to get it because I needed it to finish my build.

2020-10-28 18:51:25 UTC

guys i just realized my old ipad has been with us since 1st grade

2020-10-28 18:51:37 UTC

and i still use it

2020-10-28 18:55:31 UTC

I have an old Dell OptiPlex GX520, manufactured in June of 2006. I was able to upgrade the CPU and the RAM. I’m still looking for a graphics card, but the motherboard only has two PCI slots. Is there any time of converter so a PCI E would work with it? Currently I am relying on Intel integrated graphics from my Intel Pentium R Dual Core, which strains it a lot. Thanks for the feedback!
