same
grandpa gave it to me
Cool I should check them out
@Lucario that book makes me think of that commercial from Progressive. Who else reads books about Submarines? Ueah I know it is about planes
It is a very good book
I am sure. I like that kind of book myself but for some reason it made me think of that commercial
Which does everyone prefer, medieval style fantasy (example: The Lord Of The Rings) or sci-fi style fantasy (example: Star Wars)?
Personally I’m a sci-fi fantasy guy, especially when it comes to Star Wars.
I like both but I lean more towards the traditional fantasy realm
I grew up playing D&D
Back before it went all SJW
Ah, interesting
Same here, when it comes to liking both. But I've I've always leaned towards sci-fi
Movie: space opera. Books: standard or even high fantasy
I don't feel that the mysticism in Star Wars detracts from it
The same as the lack there of in Star Trek doesn't either from Trek
My sci fi tastes vary
A good story is a good story
I like a lot of Alternate reality stuff and steam punk
Very true
When he wrote it it was Sci fi
I have developed a liking for The Doc Savage stories and John Carter stuff as well
Ever read “1000 years War”?
No
Basically about a never ending war because neither side can travel the universe quick enough to surrender
Oh I have heard of it
Its got some very relatable points to today
Have you ever read anything by Harry Turtledove?
Not familiar. But my brain purges. Ill have to look hom up
He wrote a lot of Alternate realities
He wrote a series called the World War series where during World War 2 and alien invasion happens
Right up my alley
The aliens assumed by their intelligence that Earth was in medieval times
A bit “Man in the High Castle” but with ET?
But they had sleeper ships also and they progressed slower than humans did
So when they arrived the humans had aircraft ect
Oooh! Its now on my list
My favorite stories by him are the Southern Victory series where teh South won the Civil War
