and the T-14 may eventually just fall into the same role as the T-80, being used in Russia's heartland to defend the nations capital and never see the frontlines unless the battle turns that poorly

2021-01-05 04:15:07 UTC

isnt the J-20 just a knockoff of the F-22?

2021-01-05 04:15:36 UTC

nah its China's own homegrown design that seemingly has no design influences of other prevous aircraft

2021-01-05 04:16:00 UTC

Kind of. It does have some influence but not really.

2021-01-05 04:16:05 UTC

the J-20

2021-01-05 04:16:24 UTC

fugly when compared to an F-22 or an SU-57

2021-01-05 04:16:28 UTC

Truth

2021-01-05 04:16:37 UTC

or even the YF-23

2021-01-05 04:16:52 UTC

its honestly probably China's most capable stealth fighter, but like the F-22 it is a very aged aircraft, tho it suffers more from age than the F-22

2021-01-05 04:17:27 UTC

iirc there was a 6th gen jet tested by the us military

2021-01-05 04:17:30 UTC

is that true?

2021-01-05 04:17:36 UTC

It's an ugly duckling that's a problem XD

2021-01-05 04:17:37 UTC

6th gen fights have always been tested

2021-01-05 04:17:49 UTC

Ooh y'all talking bout my Russian military😏

2021-01-05 04:17:51 UTC

hell, 6th gen US fighters are supposed to be designed after the YF-23

2021-01-05 04:18:22 UTC

Anyway in terms of 6th gen eh I don't think any exist right now. Though if they do it's a black program.

2021-01-05 04:18:35 UTC

hell, the YF-23 is supposed to be alot better than the F-22. but due to cost issues the F-22 was ultimately chosen

2021-01-05 04:18:36 UTC

@Chair give ak12 pls <:KEK:795742276549607456>

2021-01-05 04:19:19 UTC

i think the YF-23 would be better for the USAF's doctrine

2021-01-05 04:19:22 UTC

The F-22 was always going to beat the YF-23. Marketing your product and showing what it can do is paramount.

2021-01-05 04:19:39 UTC

Lockheed went above and beyond. Northrop did not.

2021-01-05 04:19:54 UTC

well, the 2 had the same amount of marketting, but the technology put into the YF-23 was ultimately too costly at the time of trials

2021-01-05 04:20:33 UTC

But there was something missed. They didn't show its capabilities. Martin did.

2021-01-05 04:20:36 UTC

<:thinking:726878987837636698>

2021-01-05 04:21:16 UTC

well they did, hell the YF-23 is supposed to have a faster supercruise mode than the F-22 does, and the F-22's is already one of the fastest out there

2021-01-05 04:22:08 UTC

i think the YF-23 also had better stealth

2021-01-05 04:22:13 UTC

it did

2021-01-05 04:22:25 UTC

but again, was too expensive compaired to the F-22 at the time

2021-01-05 04:22:46 UTC

like the MBT-70 was for its time

2021-01-05 04:22:53 UTC

well, not really

2021-01-05 04:23:03 UTC

Let's just build an x-wing

2021-01-05 04:23:07 UTC

<:dogekek:726878872607653918>

2021-01-05 04:23:14 UTC

the MBT-70/KpMz-70 had a whole host of problems not related to its cost

2021-01-05 04:23:34 UTC

I mean what can go wrong?!

2021-01-05 04:23:37 UTC

<:troll_face:726878856585281557>

2021-01-05 04:24:07 UTC

one of the issues of the MBT-70 was that, due to the entire crew being placed inside the turret, the drivers would experience nausea whenever driving and the turret was turrned

2021-01-05 04:24:30 UTC

another issue was with its Caseless ammunition leaving behind massive amounts of residue that made the gun inoperable after a few uses

2021-01-05 04:24:48 UTC

and the final issue was doctrine clashes between the US and Germany

2021-01-05 04:25:31 UTC

its 20mm was cool tho <:KEK:795742276549607456>

2021-01-05 04:25:45 UTC

well, only a few versions of it had a 20mm

2021-01-05 04:26:11 UTC

my question is: why arent there 20mm machine guns on modern mbts?
