Acorns dropping like mad

2020-12-05 04:38:57 UTC

What about dawn to like 10am is that a good time to go hunting?

2020-12-05 04:39:16 UTC

And even pre-rut, it'll depend on your location as to the effectiveness. We have tons of persimmons, and the deer love those. They'll browse around under the tree before touching the feeder right next to it

2020-12-05 04:39:32 UTC

@Milkgamer55 I go from 5 to 12 normally

2020-12-05 04:39:56 UTC

Morning hunts I get to the stand about 30 minutes before the very first rays of daylight

2020-12-05 04:40:22 UTC

@Meatball you use a four wheeler?

2020-12-05 04:40:31 UTC

If sunrise is 6am, first rays are about 5am, get to the stand at 4:30am

2020-12-05 04:41:04 UTC

I’ve been going 3 to dark so that might be why I haven’t had as much success.

2020-12-05 04:41:17 UTC

I use my 4x4 truck to get "close", walk in about 500-600 yards

2020-12-05 04:41:19 UTC

Oh ok I see what you mean I was gonna say if you go on four wheeler I would go a bit earlier

2020-12-05 04:42:29 UTC

When I say get to the stand 30 minutes earlier than first light, I mean just that. *get to the stand*, you should be sitting down getting settled at 30 minutes before first light

2020-12-05 04:42:30 UTC

The closer I get to the stand the slower I go

2020-12-05 04:42:41 UTC

Yep that's good

2020-12-05 04:43:16 UTC

Especially with leaves, those things are so loud

2020-12-05 04:43:23 UTC

I park my four wheeler 200 yards away from the stand and walk the rest

2020-12-05 04:43:36 UTC

A little trick for leaves is fairly simple

2020-12-05 04:43:43 UTC

Sweep them out of your way.

2020-12-05 04:43:55 UTC

Before season, when you're still looking at places

2020-12-05 04:44:02 UTC

Make yourself a trail.

2020-12-05 04:44:15 UTC

Keep it swept clean and even the deer will follow it

2020-12-05 04:45:01 UTC

Well I hunt on dirt bike trails so that’s covered, the deer just love the trails

2020-12-05 04:47:14 UTC

Yep, they'll use the easiest routes they can find just as people will, but the bigger the buck the less he'll want to be around areas with lots of human activity, too, so might want to get away from the dirt bike trails if they're frequently used

2020-12-05 04:48:34 UTC

No there not used when it gets cold, also I have i dirt bike track in my back yard so nobody uses it except my family, also I just got a Ruger .350 legend that I’m excited to use

2020-12-05 04:50:42 UTC

I've not tried the 350 legend myself, but it seems like it would be a great brush gun, lower range but massive impact

2020-12-05 04:51:41 UTC

I'd love to try it in a hardwood bottom

2020-12-05 04:51:57 UTC

Got the perfect little place by a creek for it

2020-12-05 04:52:25 UTC

Low recoil, accurate and good stopping power. But nobody seems to have bullets for it.

2020-12-05 04:53:41 UTC

I’ve never taken any long range shots at deer either, I’ve always used a crossbow and a .20 gauge

2020-12-05 04:53:43 UTC

Funny, I see them everywhere

2020-12-05 04:54:03 UTC

It's one of the few rounds I've seen available actually in stores for the past few months

2020-12-05 04:54:21 UTC

Must be all the stores near me just don’t care to stock them

2020-12-05 04:54:48 UTC

Highly possible, as it's not that popular a gun in most places just yet

2020-12-05 04:55:50 UTC

My buddy has a gun press so I might just make my bullets.

2020-12-05 04:56:26 UTC

Dunno about making new rounds, but I'll never use reloads for hunting

2020-12-05 04:56:42 UTC

I've had too many bad experiences with them just target shooting, don't trust them.

2020-12-05 04:57:12 UTC

Understandable, have a great day.

2020-12-05 04:57:17 UTC

Hmm. I get that

2020-12-05 04:57:39 UTC

What do you use to hunt with?

2020-12-05 04:58:27 UTC

Who u askin?

2020-12-05 04:58:52 UTC

for bow season I have a PSE Fang 350XT, rifle season i use my 25 year old Savage .308

2020-12-05 04:58:53 UTC

Both I guess.
