I feel like a lot of schools aren't teaching more then American history after 1888 (and then skip to 1950s). I've noticed most of the high schoolers at my school don't know anything about history and still choose to talk about politics. I literally asked who won the Civil War and they looked at me like I was crazy and said that it was George Washington's side.
