Glad the History channel did him justice in their Dogfights series.
(Back when the History channel was actually worth heck)
The name sounds familiar
What vessel was under his command
USS Johnston.
Ah
Yes
I figured but wasn't sure
I met a sailor from uss hoel
I my father met a sailor from the vestal, the ship parked next to the Arizona at Pearl Harbor
Yeah
Damn
Anyone know anything about firearm repair? Specifically with an ar style rifle. Did some practice yesterday and now its sorta broken
If anything I could just use the name of the part that fell off
Lemme see the part
I've checked google and am having trouble
Let me see the part
Send a pic of the part
Sorry for potato quality
So what seems to be the problem
The rear attaching pin for the lower has a small detent that keeps it from sliding completely out
It seems it either sheered off or somehow loosened and fell out
Hmm
You might have to twist the pin or look with a flashlight for any damage
Yeah
One of my favorite toys
I'd help if I could but considering I've never even held an AR style rifle I wouldn't know 😅
If it sheered off then you’ll have to go to a machinist to have it put back
I have minimal experience with Ar 15s
Nice toy
I looked. On the front pin there is a small detent on the front pin in place that "clicks" into place when you either put it all the way in or pull it out for maitenance
The rear one no longer has one. I was more or less hoping someone knew what it was called so I can call a local smith
Look for the detent and if it’s not there you’ll need a new pin or you’ll need a machinist to put one on the pin
The pin will be cheaper though
Yeah, I'll definitely need a new one, I just didn't want to sound like a pleb when I call around. I've had her for going on 10 years now and never had a problem until now, and I've never seen this happen with any ar in the past
Ok so I asked my dad about it and he said that there is a spring and pin that holds in the pin and if the spring+pin fell out you’ll need the spring and pin and get them lined up
There’s a spot by the buffer tube that screws on with a plate that holds in the spring and pin that keeps the rear pin in if you unscrew that there’ll be a channel and if your spring+pin are there it is the rear pin but that might’ve loosened up and the spring and pin would’ve fell out
