The tan mags are so I don't confuse my 556 and 300 ammo

ok maybe a stupid question.. but the butten. to press the bolt farward.. is it actualy usefull ? or even needed ?

i have shot a few ARs but never needed it. but i dont have that much experince.

2020-07-30 20:16:22 UTC

It's useful to quietly bring the bolt forward, and that's about it

2020-07-30 20:16:44 UTC

You manually release the bolt and slowly bring it forward, then use the assist to properly seat the round in the chamber

2020-07-30 20:23:23 UTC

I've never shot an AR

2020-07-30 21:58:04 UTC

Bruhhh i dont think my gun case is coming in today

2020-07-30 21:58:11 UTC

FUUUUUUUUUUUUU

2020-07-30 22:03:38 UTC

Different mags are how I handle keeping 5.56 and .300 separated. Different brands of mag for each is a good idea, too.

LOL, the timing of this video coming out.

I learned the quiet loading trick from a retired 18B who told me that was the only legitimate use of the device.

2020-07-31 00:39:20 UTC

Oh, god. The forward assist was because of the same idiots in Ordnance that pushed the M14 on the military, then murdered soldiers by sabotaging the ammo issued for the first M16s fielded.

2020-07-31 01:03:20 UTC

The m14 was a good rifle when everything worked properly

2020-07-31 01:03:44 UTC

My grandpa was lucky enough to get fiberglass stock in nam

2020-07-31 01:04:18 UTC

Eliminating one of the bigger problems of the wood stretching

2020-07-31 01:16:20 UTC

Eh, the M14 was a rifle. Problem is it was WWII tech thrown into a completely different kind of warfare. There were way better rifles that were turned down just so Ordnance could basically keep their beloved Garand.

2020-07-31 01:16:58 UTC

BuOrd fucks up a lot of things, huh?

2020-07-31 01:19:31 UTC

"We need something lighter than the .30-06." .308 is essentially identical, just in a slightly shorter package. "We need something better than the Garand." M14 is literally a Garand with a revised gas system and 20 round mags.

Don't even get me started on the M16 ammo powder. Mofos should have been hung for treason.

2020-07-31 01:22:20 UTC

2020-07-31 01:48:20 UTC

2020-07-31 01:55:59 UTC

2020-07-31 01:56:15 UTC

Bolt is smooth

2020-07-31 02:02:07 UTC

Nice

2020-07-31 02:02:21 UTC

I'd get a .303 if the rounds were more common and cheaper.

2020-07-31 02:27:32 UTC

Can always start reloading.
