Yes there are and I've used some. Some aren't as durable as I'd like and really don't like to use them on my EDC. I've had an extension wear out, pop the cover and spew the mag contents on the ground. That would be a bad day if you really needed a loaded weapon. That said i shoot a lot and my mags are well used, the failure was due to rubbing against the side of my range bag.
Fair enough. I've never used mag extenders because my G19 fits my hands well, but I have heard good things about Taran Tactical mag extenders if you haven't tried them out yet.
The main issue with a 50 cal is repeat rounds and getting the beast back on target for round 2, 3 ... 15 if needed.
The failure was a TT extension.
Ah
It was my fault, not the mag's, but put me off.
carried a G19 for years, only switched to reduce printing.
Understandable. More chance for failure is not something to take lightly in an EDC scenario.
I now have a couple of mags designated as carry mags and keep a closer eye on them. When heading to the range I leave those in the truck safe before I get out. They don't wallow around in my range bag. That's why I feel ok about using a mag extender on the backup mag. I put a strip of Gorilla tape around the base of that extension for a bit more protection. My second backup mag is a OEM 10 round.
I have a similar setup. Couple of mags set aside for carry and a handful of OEM and magpul magazines for range time. And a 33 round if I want to make people laugh.
I carry full size
AK-50 is looking good
i am hyped to get one
I carried a G17 before the G19 were available, but printing then could be called as open carry by some zealous LEO so I felt the need to wear a jacket in Texas in the summer. I had the choice of protection with heat-stroke or surviving the summer.
have u seen demos vid on the phone gun
fun story
like the gun that prints like a phone
I just received G-Sight dry fire training system and tried it out. It's really cool when dry firing because it can tell you your grouping or score depending on the mode and target you use.
Phone gun is little more than a toy, it only carries two rounds and must be manipulated before using. If you have time for that, you probably don't need the gun. I carry 41 rounds, 15+1 in the weapon, and a 10 round and 15 round backup mags. If I only need two, I'm covered, if I need more than two I'm still covered.
what is this phone gun you speak of?
u know like on that does not print and one that might print
also if it is small it prints less
I think the same can be said for you, if you need 41 rounds, you are either a dead man walking or should have tried to flee long before that point.
Im pretty sure i'd rather use a derringer at that point
spring loaded ?
or grav
plus sleves
may not be a thing when it is summer
also plz know in the future to not tag the AK-50 unless u speak of it
interesting analogy
Fleeing is an option IF you have the time and clearance to do so, something that would be available to someone with a gun kit (phone gun requires assembly) and two rounds. If you haven't the time or the clear escape avenue, two rounds will not be enough, and the time to build the thing will be lacking as well. In urban areas, around where i work, gangs of several toughs are a regular occurance. Were I a perfect shot under duress while moving at targets moving in multiple directions I might need 10 or more rounds for single tap. I'd MUCH rather carry 40 rounds and never need them than cary 10 and need 12. ... or TWO and need 10.
... and I may be a dead man walking, but I will not go alone.
I carry all sizes. But yeah always have an extra mag
I'd rather just be holding a supercompact AR-15 pistol with bump stocks, but they don't allow it in Canada ðŸ˜
I also carry an extra mag because I cary a single stack sub compact but two spare mags equaling 41 rounds is something else
@Bar there's plenty of examples of cops shooting way more than 41 rounds and they're alive lol
41 is more than enough. My Rami has 14+1 so the smallest gun I still have 29 rds.
