Jesus freely choose to and is willing to if you only believe.

2020-11-07 23:53:29 UTC

He doesn't want to see anyone go to Hell.

2020-11-07 23:53:44 UTC

Because of a similar reason that parents would take a bullet for their child

2020-11-07 23:54:17 UTC

Or a person would give their life to protect their sibling.

2020-11-07 23:54:25 UTC

This is actually very emotion eliciting for me as I’ve struggled with religion for years now so I’m happy to be talking about this with y’all

2020-11-07 23:54:31 UTC

God doesn't want anyone to go to hell but he's also just which means anyone who sins must be punished. Jesus died to create a second option by taking our sin upon himself freely

2020-11-07 23:54:33 UTC

No problem

2020-11-07 23:54:57 UTC

Idk if Christianity is really for me but I suppose I need to do more research into the better side rather than accepting the bad as the only side

2020-11-07 23:55:19 UTC

When you pray and ask for forgiveness, you don't need to be specific.

2020-11-07 23:55:32 UTC

No one can make you believe in Jesus, it's something only you can do.

2020-11-07 23:56:01 UTC

@Draconem_Dominus what you experienced was not what Jesus called us to do. We aren't here to judge others, because we're all broken, we're all bad. We're just here to spread the word of God, and love one another.

2020-11-07 23:56:04 UTC

Think of it like this: How could perfect and just judge (God) allow evil to come into Heaven? That wouldn't be just. But He loves us so much, that he made a way so that we still could.

2020-11-07 23:57:04 UTC

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7‭-‬8 NKJV

2020-11-07 23:57:04 UTC

Jesus carried the weight of so much sin that even God had to turn his back on him

2020-11-07 23:58:12 UTC

Yes, there's hypocrites, false teachers, and ones who claim to Christian but are not. But that won't change what God did for you.
Those people will be judged accordingly when the time comes.

But Jesus didn't die for **us**. He died for **you**. Not all of us as a whole, but personally.

2020-11-07 23:58:32 UTC

Oh

2020-11-07 23:58:41 UTC

That’s an interesting way of putting it

2020-11-07 23:58:57 UTC

I’ve never heard it worded that way before

2020-11-07 23:59:15 UTC

I guess I really didn’t see much of a good side of Christianity :/

2020-11-07 23:59:28 UTC

Though I shouldn’t have accepted that as the only side

2020-11-07 23:59:39 UTC

He carried every sin that you ever have committed or ever will committed so you have the possibility to join him in Heaven.

2020-11-08 00:01:19 UTC

See, all these different branches of Catholicism and Christianity are confusing, and some of them are ridiculous, all you need is the Bible. The Bible is the only truth in this world.

2020-11-08 00:01:33 UTC

Because the Bible is God's word

2020-11-08 00:01:58 UTC

I also thought you were only supposed to follow the New Testament, as that is Jesus and his story and word and his way

2020-11-08 00:02:05 UTC

God loves you even when you sin, even when you turn from Him.
He loves you so much that Jesus, Son of God, perfect and in Heaven, came down to a sinful world, to be mocked, spit on, beaten, whipped, made to carry His own execution device to the execution location, to be hung on the cross for hours and die.
For **you**

2020-11-08 00:02:08 UTC

Yes, we are.

2020-11-08 00:02:28 UTC

Belief in Jesus to forgive your sins is the important part, everything else that differentiates the denominations is secondary.

2020-11-08 00:02:32 UTC

But we use the Old Testament to learn from the mistakes of the past.

2020-11-08 00:02:44 UTC

Oh ok

2020-11-08 00:02:50 UTC

That’s interesting

2020-11-08 00:03:20 UTC

There are thing from the Old Testament that we follow like the Ten Commandments

2020-11-08 00:03:33 UTC

The old covenant of the Old Testament we no longer follow, but much of the history and stories in it are still of great value. Including the prophecies of Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection

2020-11-08 00:03:54 UTC

Another thing without the Old Testament there is no New Testament

2020-11-08 00:04:06 UTC

The old testament also shows us our sins and the perfect standard God expects. This shows us how getting to heaven on our own actions is impossible and needs someone to die in our place.

2020-11-08 00:04:20 UTC

The 10 Commandments, for example, are in the Old Testament

2020-11-08 00:05:00 UTC

As is the part about being gay is a sin

2020-11-08 00:05:04 UTC

They still apply and are mentioned in the New Testament, but they were first in the Old Testament

2020-11-08 00:05:52 UTC

When Jesus came, he made a new covenant with us that replaced the old covenant under the law. It doesn't mean the sins mentioned in the old are not still sins but that we no longer bound by them because Jesus has forgiven them.

2020-11-08 00:06:08 UTC

Ooh ok

2020-11-08 00:06:11 UTC

I see

2020-11-08 00:06:13 UTC

Being gay is only a sin because it's not what God intended. He intended for a man and a woman to love each other.
