So Bible is more important than tradition

2020-11-09 00:23:21 UTC

> What the difference between Catholic and Jews during Jesus time then?
@DeButcher Not much
The Apostles still considered themselves Jews, and just followed Jesus' teaching

2020-11-09 00:24:16 UTC

Wait so
You're saying Bible is more important because Jesus came to destroy Jewish culture, and because Jewish culture emphasized tradition, tradition is less important?

2020-11-09 00:24:41 UTC

Just trying to understand where you're coming from

2020-11-09 00:27:19 UTC

Yes they focus on tradition and laws and the pharisee made the life of Jews bad.

2020-11-09 00:28:01 UTC

They adding things to the Torah and complicated it

2020-11-09 00:28:41 UTC

I wouldn't say that Catholicism and Judaism are similar to compare, even though Christianity is certainly rooted in Judaism

2020-11-09 00:28:55 UTC

Focus on what's important. Relationship with Christ

2020-11-09 00:29:28 UTC

> I wouldn't say that Catholicism and Judaism are similar to compare, even though Christianity is certainly rooted in Judaism
@MKSmash
Im just talking bout the tradition aspect

2020-11-09 00:31:58 UTC

I know, but you're connecting them with one thin strand (tradition); I don't find your claim very strong that tradition isn't as important because it is one of the things we have in common with Judaism

2020-11-09 00:35:08 UTC

Tradition cant do you any good. Following it wont take you heaven. Following the word of God for sure will. So i urge you to read the bible. Bible is sufficient. It has all the things we need.

2020-11-09 00:36:57 UTC

You're right, it does; however, it requires tradition to adequately interpret and "use" the Bible

2020-11-09 00:38:55 UTC

Could you give an example where tradition is need to explain the bible.

2020-11-09 00:39:15 UTC

If tradition is needed then it would be included in the bible

2020-11-09 00:44:54 UTC

Sure
Let's take Genesis, in the Creation story. We obviously can't take this story seriously, with the earth being created in 7 "days". We need tradition to interpret how creation happened; for example, how Eve was created from Adam.

2020-11-09 00:45:31 UTC

wdym not actually 7 days?

2020-11-09 00:46:28 UTC

Time doesn't exist with God, he only exists in the eternal now.

2020-11-09 00:46:49 UTC

There was no time to work with

2020-11-09 00:46:59 UTC

God is the creator. He created time.

2020-11-09 00:47:32 UTC

He could have created the universe in less than 1 second

2020-11-09 00:47:44 UTC

true

2020-11-09 00:47:56 UTC

He has infinite power

2020-11-09 00:48:10 UTC

But He took his time and made it step by step process

2020-11-09 00:48:34 UTC

exactly. I believe that He and Jesus built the world, and that God taught Jesus how to.

2020-11-09 00:49:03 UTC

That's
Different😄

2020-11-09 00:49:27 UTC

Where does that belief come from?

2020-11-09 00:49:44 UTC

Read Gensis 1:5

2020-11-09 00:49:48 UTC
2020-11-09 00:50:12 UTC
2020-11-09 00:50:27 UTC

correct, I am a Mormon.

2020-11-09 00:51:50 UTC

Ah
I will confess, I know nothing about Mormon beliefs

2020-11-09 00:51:57 UTC

@DeButcher I read it

2020-11-09 00:52:07 UTC

The creation of night and day

2020-11-09 00:52:17 UTC

If you have any questions, just lemme know. I'd be happy to clear up any rumors.

2020-11-09 00:52:37 UTC

Do you believe that Jesus came to North America?

2020-11-09 00:53:16 UTC

We do.

2020-11-09 00:53:30 UTC

Why's that?

2020-11-09 00:54:51 UTC

There were separate peoples, some in the Americas. He taught them, and blessed them. We learn this from the Book of Mormon.

2020-11-09 00:55:23 UTC

Ah
Is there any relation to the Bible or not?

2020-11-09 00:56:08 UTC

Yes. We believe that both books are Word of God.

2020-11-09 00:57:22 UTC

How did Jesus reach America?
