If you let a child sin with no disipline they will have no restraint to keep on sinning
it isn't. but that's where we differ though. i think the "penance" should be paid by myself, god thinks the penance is asking for forgiveness
I have to go to bed now tho its 2 am.
Ok, none of us are worthy. We actually all feel that way. That said. Each individual’s sin is the reason that Jesus had to die. We all caused His death. When Jesus died it was so that we could be forgiven for being accessories to His murder. Jesus takes on our sin in that He becomes our lawyer. He shows how through one action we were REDEEMED. He doesn’t take on our guilt at the cross. Every Christian I know still feels that guilt and shame. What He DOES do is advocate on our behalf
how do god or you yourself even know if your "ask for forgiveness" mean it? someone can ask for forgiveness 100 times sincerely but still go to hell
Approaching sin from a Buddhist standpoint will not benefit anyone
If you ask God to sincerely forgive you of all of your sins, and you ask this in Jesus name you don’t have to ask 100 times
You are forgiven
Christ is the scapegoat for our sins
It is, we call it repenting. The act God forgives, the violation has to be atonned for. Especially when culpability plays into the mix.
true. but then god forced our hands. forced jesus to die and left us with blood on our hands
You yourself may know this by your actions. If you “sincerely” ask God to forgive you but continue acting how you did before you clearly weren’t sincere. If you strive to follow God’s Word and Will you will see that there was sincerity to your plea
well. i don't necessarily believe in the christian or buddhist god, so i'm incline to disagree
So it is based on good vs bad deeds scale?
no. but how do you "know" if you're sincere enough?
Ok, God didn’t force Jesus to do anything. Jesus is also God, and Jesus CHOSE to die for us. I’m not seeing how Hod forced our hands either. We have a choice
in a way. you don't have the "good deeds will cancel out bad deeds". you have to go through and atone for every single bad deed you did
There is no “sincere enough.” The term “enough” here does nothing. Everyone follows God at different paces, what matters is that we “finish the race.” As I said before, by your actions it will be known whether you were sincere or not
In our bible, since the very beginning, God gave us a choice....we just chosed to screw it up. In his infinite power and wisdom he could've just put us on rails and dictated our every move and thoughts.
The Bible clearly outlines certain characteristics that will become manifest in a person
i don't know. how would you know if you truly love somebody? i love my parents, but how much of that is me tricking myself into thinking that i am? i don't think i did enough for my parents to prove my love for them
We as humans can’t atone for even a single “bad deed” we have committed.
Jesus was willing to take the burden because he loves us. Second point, trying to be perfect will never take you to heaven. You have to be perfect 💯, which is not possible.
That's basically what good people do. 👍
What proof could you give? If the option came would you do extreme things for your parents? How do you prove love?
Why not?
well. the angels, lucifer, made a conscious choice against god and he was punished. but lucifer was never had the offer to redemption
Sorry I'm catching up on all the previous text
which is what i'm asking about god. i honestly don't know if things hit the fan i can overcome my cowardice.
@isoboto honestly lambton is right here, one of the devils most effective weapons is doubt. The same questions you ask yourself about love and sincerity provide stumbling blocks to me. These are the devils weapons against humanity and they are even outlined in the Bible as such.
That establishes culpability, he (lucifer) willingly and purposely disobeyed.
satan sows a lot of doubts, that's for sure
Peter, the rock upon whom the church was built, was a coward
I’m a coward
true. but we did, too, no? we went against god's rule
Yes we did
How is the discussion going
U should establish culpability too. Sometimes by mistake and sometimes on purpose.
pretty good, i think?
