Then how can you explain civilisations with other religions having similar morals ?

2021-01-02 19:02:18 UTC

we are all dastardly wicked not just slightly

2021-01-02 19:02:28 UTC

@ELIS314 Similar origin--back to the family of Noah

2021-01-02 19:02:44 UTC

I’ve noticed that every religion believes in a Supreme God.

2021-01-02 19:02:57 UTC

Christianity believes in God, Islam in Allah, and so on.

2021-01-02 19:03:09 UTC

Well not all of then , those are just the Abrahamic

2021-01-02 19:03:10 UTC

Standard human morals that God gave us when he created us.

2021-01-02 19:03:32 UTC

You can go into the jungles or bushes of Africa and find tribes that believe in a god--it is built into our nature--but you have to be educated to be an atheist, to deny God exists.

2021-01-02 19:03:53 UTC

We all know it's wrong to rape somebody, but what gave us that sense that it's wrong?

2021-01-02 19:03:53 UTC

The question is--which one is the right one

2021-01-02 19:04:02 UTC

And that right one is the God of the Bible

2021-01-02 19:04:03 UTC

The Bible: “Humans were made from dust.”
Atheist: “I don’t believe in this nonsense!”
Some scientist: “We’re all made of star dust!”
Atheist: “SO TRUE!!!!!!”

2021-01-02 19:04:05 UTC

I belive morals evolved as a social construct that is usefull for living in a society, God is just a way of representing those morals and trying to explain then , we dont need to explain morals they just are

2021-01-02 19:04:34 UTC

Well, that belief of social construct is wrong

2021-01-02 19:04:36 UTC

Like if a society find it moral to kill that this society is going to die

2021-01-02 19:04:49 UTC

The only societies that remain are those who find killing bad

2021-01-02 19:05:11 UTC

So you are justifying cannibal socieities--canniabls among themselves say it's not immoral to kill and eat a person...

2021-01-02 19:05:19 UTC

thats abortion in a nut shell

2021-01-02 19:05:27 UTC

Right, because morality is relative, it’s a social construct...

2021-01-02 19:05:28 UTC

How many if those prosper?

2021-01-02 19:05:32 UTC

There are still cannibal societies today--so it's a weak argument

2021-01-02 19:05:42 UTC

So, your saying that abortion is moral?

2021-01-02 19:05:53 UTC

Like tell me one big society that belives in canibalism

2021-01-02 19:06:03 UTC

“A fetus isn’t a real person!!!1111!!!!!” - probably a progressive liberal

2021-01-02 19:06:12 UTC

@ELIS314 See, though, you're arguing against your argument

2021-01-02 19:06:28 UTC

How ? I just say that you dont need God to be moral

2021-01-02 19:06:51 UTC

And that morals are necessary for a prosperous society

2021-01-02 19:07:09 UTC

Yes, but you are saying society constructs their morals--a cannibal society constructs their morals--and then you go switching criteria to say are they a big society. That's a different criterium

2021-01-02 19:07:09 UTC

Hold on, I had a quote...

2021-01-02 19:07:31 UTC

There are currently many prosperous societies with their own twisted and evil morals

2021-01-02 19:08:12 UTC

@ELIS314 Yes, prosperity does not equate right morals--you literally argued against that earlier when you were talking about socialism and communism.

2021-01-02 19:08:14 UTC

> A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion. - Sir Francis Bacon

2021-01-02 19:08:15 UTC

Well every society if that kind falls , that is why the roman empire fallen

2021-01-02 19:08:36 UTC

Let me blow your mind here then if it's about longevity

2021-01-02 19:08:49 UTC

Communism has never worked, and it's only about 150 years old.

2021-01-02 19:08:58 UTC

Capitalism is not all that old either necessarily...

2021-01-02 19:09:01 UTC

Every society falls no matter what. It doesn't matter what their morals are

2021-01-02 19:09:02 UTC

I am an anarchist

2021-01-02 19:09:09 UTC

Not a communist

2021-01-02 19:09:16 UTC

But Judeo-Christian ideals and beliefs go back to the beginning of time.

2021-01-02 19:10:01 UTC

Well there have been societies before that wich had similar morals but that argument doesn't work because most probably you dont belive there were societies before christianity
